I have been wondering what the average height for males is? Some say its somewhere between 5"7 and 5"8. I am 5"10. I think 5"10 is average. Any opinions? Btw, I know it depends on your nationality , So i guess this is a complicated question.
I've always heard 5'9" for men. I'm 6'8", so I'm doing my best to help bring it up a bit. =)
wow.... 6"8 is above average. I suppose you are right. average should be 5"9 perhaps 5"10.
I'm 6'8" also...great to run into another tall longhair!
Happy Holidays....Mike
wow...you literally tower over us don't ya?I'm 5'11'' by the way :P..
I'm 5'7"
Well, I look up to you! I'm 6'6" and it's not all beer and skittles is it?
Disadvantages:
Getting trousers to fit
Banging your head on door frames
Uncomfortable driving position
Sex with a partner who's 5'2"
Everyone remembers you
Advantages
Most men being envious of you (yes, I know that's sad)!
Always getting the job (research suggests that the tallest male candidate nearly always gets the job). Totally unfair but true.
Certain sexual activities are easier to do with a partner who's 5'2" ;-)
No-one starts fights with you
Everyone remembers you
well barefoot im just about 5'7" i dont really know whats the norm because i live in nyc its a lot of different cultures. i notice that i am taller than most spanish, asian. a good amount of the white people my age are my height but then lots are taller. my family is italian, on the one side all of them are about 5'3" so im considered tall. but on my dads side the males are up to 6 ft. i guess its all relative to who you're comparing yourself to.
Your estimate is likely spot on, at least for men in your age group. The average height has increased a bit over the years.
For those in their 40s and 50s it is about 5'9".
Worldwide, the average height for males is about 5'7".
In the Netherlands, the average YOUNG male height about 6'1". Of all nationalities, the Dutch are the tallest.
At 5'10" tall you have a good chance of your hair reaching your waist in 4 or 5 years.

This is, no doubt, because only the tallest ones survive dike breaks. [grin]
Bill
ROFLMAO That is funny, Bill. I guess the short guys that swim really well may be alright too.

Well I am 16 and im about 6 foot even, who knows what the average is though? Alot of people at my school are far taller then me. But then again there are short people elsewhere in the world as well. I guess height is not really that important.
I'd say its probably about 5'8", 5'9". I'm right in between there, and I feel like I seen an equal number of guys both taller and shorter than me. My younger brother somehow got the height genes and is like 6'3".... however, he can't grow a single hair on his face and he's 19, and I'm 21 and can easily grow a full, thick beard :).
I'm about 5'9" and this seems to be an average height when I compare
myself with others.
NADA
Lol, i'm 5'7". Shortest person to reply, but it'll take less time for my hair to reach my middle back :P. I'd put the average height in a range from 5'8"-6'0" instead of just naming one height since i see so many people within that range
That is feet? I am 193 cm. Is that "6''3"?
No, I was wrong there. I am not used to the imperial system hehehe.
I am 6-4

This is interesting, because I had always thought the average for a guy in the UK was 5'9", and that is the number they have, but I had read that in the USA the average was 5'11" and many Americans have told me that 6'0" was average, and yet on this page it says 5'9", the same as the UK.
However, they further break the US figures down into 5'7" for hispanics and 5'10" for whites and blacks (no figures for asians, but they do tend to be shorter, IMHO). I am rounding their numbers to the nearest inch for simplicity's sake. I guess I would tend to compare myself with white Americans.
I am just under 5'8", BTW.
