Hi,
I planning on growing my hair long. Presently I have about and inch and half. I would really appreciate if someone could give me some tips for growing my hair long. My hair is kind of dry, but smooth. I started to use conditioner everyday. It would help me a lot if somebody could suggest a good conditioner for dry hair.
Thanks
marcel
Welcome and have a look at the FAQs- link above.
For dry hair, try L'Oreal ViVE SMOOTH-INTENSE Conditioner.
Also, to control your hair and to add shine try:
1. L'Oreal Studio Line MELTing Gel (very slick and not sticky or stiff)
2. L'Oreal Liquid SPRAY Gel (smooths your hair and adds shine without
making your hair stiff like hair sprays).
Good Luck!
I think that if your hair is dry then you could try shampooing it less (a couple times a week). It's really not that gross to use conditioner only during the other washes. :)
Another thing that could possibly be drying out your hair is silicones. These are found in shampoos and conditioners such as Garnier Fructis and Panteen Pro V which, while beneficial to some people, coat the hair. In my personal experience, silicones made my hair feel dry and like plastic. They dried out my hair (I assume) by coating the hair shafts and preventing moisture from penetrating properly. After going off cones I've been much happier with my hair. It's always a possibility. :)
To answer your conditioner question -- For my hair I used to use Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut Conditioner because it's cheap, silicone free, and made my hair smell alright. However I've recently switched to VO5's brand of Free Me Freesia and am seeing how it does. So far it's pretty good, and it's also designed to moisturize hair. It's a little too soon to pass judgement though, because I only just switched a couple days ago. I'm also applying jojoba oil after showering to help with dryness
Good luck growing!
