Well, Its a week early, but I decided I would post my update tonight. It has been 5 months since my hair cut, on July 2, 2006.
I feel my hair has come a long way since then, and for a long time I was angry with myself for cutting it off. But now I'm pretty happy with it. It seems to be growing fast, soft, healthy, and the best part is its all one color again.
I think I could say that im about 3/4 through the awkward stage, only an inch or two more and I'll be able to keep my bangs out of my face behind my ears. When I cut my hair, I left the bangs about 2 inches longer than the back. I think it will work out because my bangs will even out with the back, and I'll be able to get them in a ponytail alot quicker. Unfortunatly the back is still a bit shorter than my bangs, so it looks a little goofy now, but I'm okay with it. It will show its benefits in good time. Im really happy with this month because I'm starting to feel like a longhair again. I love how my hair sways as I walk, or blows into my eyes from the strong wind. Someone once spoke of the longhaired person inside ones self, and I feel that my "inner longhair" is starting to show his self.
Well, I'll end this long post and show the pictures.
This one is my hair after I cut it. Sorry its small, Its just to get an idea of how much my hair has grown since then.
November 20th. 5 months.

Nice pic. I don't know if your hair is that much longer but your beard certainly is filling in quickly. Guess you'll be ready for winter. :-)
Haha thank you! Yeah the beard is going well. I definatly think It will keep my face nice and warm.
Your hair and beard are looking good, Dustin! I hope you don't mind me saying this, but you look very similar to kurt cobain. Anyway, your beard should keep you warm this winter. It's that time of year again...I let mine grow to at least 2 inches in the winter now that I live where it snows.

Hey thank you! I actually get the Cobain comments alot, and I think its really cool. Kurt Cobain is one of my long hair inspirations. One of my favorite reads is his biography "Heavier Than Heaven".
This is my first ever full beard, so its a learning experience for me, and it seems to be going well.
Yeah, I have to get myself a copy of that biography. I became aware of Nirvana shortly after I graduated high school in 1991. They came to "The Catalyst" in Santa Cruz, California (where I was living) later that year but I had other obligations so I couldn't attend. They played the "Cow Palace" for New Years (if memory serves me correctly) but I was out of town. Never got to see them play live but I bought their records and read as much about Cobain as I could. He was a unique individual.
I just read about Cow Palace in the biography. It sounded like a killer show. Its unfortunate that they arent around anymore. I would have really liked to see them live. Cobain was very unique, among other things. I would have liked to sit down and talked with him for a while. :)

Yeah, I'm growing a beard as an experiment, since Ive never tried it before. I've got to try everything atleast once!

Hey Christopher, No it doesnt offend me at all. For some reason it really makes me happy to get comments about how I resemble Cobain. He is one of my favorite people. Im into psychology and what goes on in ones mind, and Cobain is perfect for trying to figure things out. He had quite an imagination.( check out his published journals).

My hair is very kind to me, so I havent had too much trouble with the awkward phase. I will be very glad in a few more months when its longer, though.
And all is looking great! You will never believe what another 5 months will bring.
Yeah, I'm so excited! I suspect by June it will almost long enough for a ponytail!

The colour of your beard contrast with your hairs. It's gorgeous. Keep your beard growing until 5 inches.
Well thank you! 5 Inches! Thats pretty long, but I havent decided when Im going to shave, but its not going to be anytime soon. I'll see what I can do! :)

Your hair has grown quickly for five months. You've set yourself up for long hair nicely, like you say if you had an awkward stage, it's pretty much over. Lets hope your hair grows as fast in the future! : )
