A Catholic High School in New York State known for its strict dress code and interdiction of long hair on boys, has started to change pictures in its collection of history, science and library books, so historic characters respect the hair code, thus taking away excuses, rebel students may have for not respecting the hair length regulations.
One example shown, is for the French Class where books based on Duma's Three musketeers, loaned to students have had their covers changed. Students have the choice to learn either French or Spanish in this school.
Here is an example of a book adapted to fit the current curriculum,
Title "The adventures of Dartagnan"
None of the characters are represented with long hair.
Ah, then they must get that renegade Jesus with the long hair off their crucifixes now! And yes, a Jesus with a crew-cut--can't you see it? He was a renegade, a rebel, of the best sort. Remove the rebel, and you lose the basis for the religion.
Imagine, if Jesus had followed all of their damn rules.
Robert
So no pictures of Sir Isaac Newton, either.
Oh wait it's a Catholic school. Silly me. They wouldn't have them in the first place :P
Not all Catholic schools are the same though. My son goes to one over here in Englandland - this week he had mini-braids in his hair with bits dyed red and green. No problem.
With all the troubles that exist in the world today it is quite sinful to ignor starving people right here in the US and spend parishioners contributions on something as idiotic as is this.
this story is just a joke!
I don't think that is real, but anyway isn't it a repost?
This is only meant as a joke, and it is another take on a spoof I did a few months ago with Newton in a crewcut (This time it was a fictional school in the UK).
Maybe I should of used the word (Fiction) instead of (Humour).
I always had in mind, that if a school wants to forbid long hair, it has do be done properly, and all the history books have to be changed to conform to the school's new image.
Since this would be close to impossible to do (and immoral as well (to change history books in any way(text or pictures))), therefore, because long hair has been worn by famous people in the past, as well as ordinary folks who couldn't afford to have a portrait made of them, there is no rational argument to consider long hair on men "unclean", "unkempt", or "not presentable".
Long hair on men is a classical look, and like short hair, has to be well cared for to be respectable. It is just a style amongst others, and not a "fad", a "fashion statement", nor a rebelious look. It's a classic look.
Have a nice day,
Georges in Montreal.
Here come back memories of Hitler regime (and many more) burning books and writing down new, politically correct, and only one allowed, history.
Hopefully, impossible to do. Next, try to re-paint all Jesus Christ images to fit that rules !
