I'm 21. I've been growing my hair since I was 18. It's currently 43 centimetres long. (I think that's about 17 inches for the American folk.) In the past few months, I've noticed more hair loss than usual. Usually it's in the shower and it occasionally comes out in little bunches.
I've begun to notice that the end of my hair is thinning out, while the top doesn't show much change at all. it's because of this that I think it might be snapping. I've noticed more short hair on top than I'd expect. I'm not sure if wearing it in a ponytail, day in and day out, for work is having an adverse effect.
I was just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this and what you've done about it.
hi
a possible reason for you noticing more shed hair in the shaower is because your hair is LONGER..and hence more noticable.Or, a change in your diet...or a medical condition may be causing this.
about the flyaways...have you changed anything in your hair care routine?like for example, stopping blowdying would obviously make you notice more short hairs on your head. if you can sort of describe your hair care routine I'm sure we can be of better help.hope this helps :)
My diet did change close to the time when I started noticing it, but it was a change to a healthier diet (Nothing radical. Just eating less junk food etc.). Also, I did start noticing excess hair as my hair got longer, but this particular change was when my hair was already pretty long.
My hair care basically consists of 2 shampoo/conditioner washes a week and washing it in just water the other days. It seems like the best balance for me. Any more shampoo/cond washes and my hair dries out far too much. I towel dry, but nothing too vigorous. I brush it once before work. it spends pretty much all day in a ponytail. That's pretty much it.
I would completely do away with the towel drying...it's very damaging...even more so than blow drying I would think (cause hair is at it's weakest when wet..this may be the reason yor hair is breaking). all I do with the towel is just squeeze my hair in it for a few seconds to sop up the extra moisture and then apply some leave-in conditioner and let it air dry..the leave-in conditioner almost eliminates the flyaways for me :)
