I read an article in the local paper a couple of days ago where a long standing guy of the community was running for fire chief of his community and the residents started or at least propogated a rumor that he once had long hair and a ponytail. The city council and the residents are ACTUALLY considering not allowing the guy to get the position because it has been rumored that he ONCE had long hair. The mayor of the town said that he would not have a fire chief with long hair. Is that sh** or what? I think that closed minded, ignorant, stereotypical people like that cause more problems for people and society. I can somewhat see a reason for not wanting a fire chief with long hair as it might catch fire or something but even that is a weak excuse. But to deny a guy a public position because he maybe at one time in his life had long hair and a ponytail is just stupid. These are the type of people that I have to deal with concerning my hair even though it isn't all that long (cut in a bob below my ears). I sure hope for the sake of humanity and society that people like this disappear soon or evry guy will be denied his freedom of self and expression simply because some people still hold to these idiotic stereotypes that guys must have short hair. I mean come on, girls somehow escaped the noose of having to have long hair and now have the choice of any length they want and it is acceptable. Shouldn't guys be given the same choices? Actually I would venture to say that half of the female population in the U.S. have hair anywhere from above the shoulder to crew cuts. Why do some people hold so tightly to these stereotypes for males?
How'd you ever end up down there? You a native?
