I have been noticing some people indicating that they have peoblems with tangles, even to the point that they cut their hair to solve the problem. I admit that tangles can be a problem, however with the proper products tangles can be held to a minimum. I use Nexxus shampoo and conditioner. A GOOD conditioner is vital. I should also point out that a volumizing conditioner may be prefered if you have fine, or thinning hair as I do. This will make the hair much thicker, softer and add shine. There are several good products out there that will help to reduce tangles. Just remember that you have invested a lot of time in your hair, so don't skimp on the products that will keep your hair looking its best.
Yes, but.
There are a lot of different hair routines out there for different people and different hair types. What works for one may NOT work for another, and in fact may damage hair or irritate the scalp.
Personally, shampoo and conditioner irritate my scalp and lead to increased shedding...I've been water only for 9 months and see no reason to go back. (Sili)cone laden conditioners indeed made my hair look nicer and gave it good slip, but underneath the coating the damage was still there.
If your hair grows a relatively average 0.5"/month, and your goal length isn't very long (say mid back), you can get away with a lot more, since the longest hairs are only a few years long, and accumulated damage just isn't too great unless you are really mean to your hair.
At the same time, gentle hair care, and protection from damage helps any hair look better as it grows...again, different tools and methods work differently for various people, so you have to find your own path...perhaps finding others with similar hairtypes for advice.
Trollypup: You are exactly right. People are different. It is the Ph level that is my primary concern. Even water can damage hair if the Ph is too high, or low, such as some tap water, but as you stated, people are different, thus, their hair will respond differently to certain products. Thick hair, thin hair, curly, straight, etc.
I've been having some minor tangles lately. I am currently using garnier fructis sleek and shine but it doesn't seem to be doing the trick anymore. Where can i purchase this nexxus product? Btw , your hair looks impeccable. Very shiny , And HEALTHY looking.

Thanks for the compliment. Nexxus is available at most Wal-Mart and Target stores. You may want to visit their website too. Trollypup is correct in that there is no "one fit all" routine, however, much of what I am saying is based on Ph levels which Nexxus explains very nicely on their website. If a shampoo is not properly balanced then it can eventually damage your hair. I have probably tried 50 or more shampoos in an effort to find the one that fits me best and Nexxus is certainly one of the best that I have tried. I also use Neutrogena T-Gel twice per week too since that was the shampoo that was used in the Propecia FDA trails. It is well documented that caol tar shampoos help to control various scalp conditions that MAY lead to hair loss over a long period of time, however, Nexxus is not a coal tar based shampoo. It certainly dosen't hurt to experiment around and perhaps you will find the one that works best for you, but I believe that Nexxus is going to be hard to beat for managable and tangle free hair. It will not totally prevent tangles, but it really helps. Garnier fructis sleek and shine isn't bad either, but build up can become an issue and it makes my hair super hot in the summer sun.
