During the the 1 1/2 year that I spent visiting this board, I've noticed that many of us speak more than one language (some of you fluently lol).
I guess I'll go first--I'm from USA
Im from USA as well. Formerly of the west (Montana and Idaho), I now live in Illinois, and in about 1.5 to 2 years I'll hopefully be living in Washington.
I am in Taiwan now. I lived in the USA before, and I plan to move to Canada.
I'm from Mississippi, U.S.A.
I'm from Oregon, USA.. and what a cold wet area it is lol.
I am from:
Melbourne, Australia.
You know whats great. People from all over the world are on this board, sharing a common enjoyment of long hair! In such a complicated world, its nice to know that people of all races, religions, countries, and continents can actually get along peacefully. Its really excellent.
you're in illinois? I am too! yes, i have thought many times that one of the things I like is that the board is so international. my only 2nd language is french which I studied in high school and college but due to lack of use i have forgotten just about all of it.
I'm from St.Louis missouri!!and speak fluent GReek! :P
I'm from the island of SINGAPORE. I speak two languages (English and Chinese), and two dialects (Chinese dialects - Hokkien and Teochew). I've learnt elementary Japanese in 1999 but due to a lack of usage, it's terribly rusty now. I do speak a smattering of mumble-jumble Malay when I return to Malaysia to visit my wife's relatives.
Hey, I wonder do you ever consider immigrating to Canada? it looks so easy if you got college degree and some experience...
Hmm... never crossed my mind on that. But US and Europe, yes as they appear to have a conducive environment to do good research.
yea but without an American wife or sponsorship you basically can't immigrate to the US. I dont know about Europe.
Not really thinking on emigration, just thought of staying there for some years to experience life there (research and residential).
To my knowledge, Europe is indeed more difficult in terms of emigration, as they have more (and larger) immigration barriers there. But still, think it varies from country to country.
BTW, you hair's growing out real well, it should be a silky mass in a year's time :)
Hi Tai Fu,
I see you must be considering emigrating to Canada. Any idea which part of Canada?
David
Vancouver or something... its too early to tell cause it may be 5 or 10 years from now before I can move to Canada, I gotta apply for rehabilitation before I can apply for perm. residence. That will probably take a year ASSUMING they approve it. Then I heard it takes a while to get your application for perm. residence processed unless you got pre-arranged employment, which isn't something I am too counting on. Given my history with the USA it might delay processing... I will be eligible to apply for rehabilitation 4 years from now... Plus I need at least 5 years to earn the points (job experience, college degree, and a little French to boost the point value) so its not a short term thing... man I hate politics.

Hey, y'all!
I'm from the state of Georgia in the USA.
My only truly-fluent languages are standard English and Southern redneck.
I'm from Baton Rouge, LA. Currently I am working and living during the week in New Orleans, LA. My family is currently just south of Houston, TX, and I spend weekends there with them.
We plan to all return to Baton Rouge, or possibly New Orleans, in about 3 1/2 years when my kids have all graduated from High School.

Wow! that's very impressive!
I'm from a little town called Droitwich aka "Detroitwich" by locals, because of all the the people who seem to like hip-hop around here. It's near Englands second city, Birmingham. I know how to speak rough french (because of my education) and rough Irish Gaelic, because most my family are from Ireland. So, nothing special really : )
Neil
I'm from Estonia. Languages: Estonian, English, Russian, a bit of Finnish.
Near Atlanta, GA, USA. Besides English, I speak a few words of Spanish, German, and Japanese. I know enough German and Spanish to translate a written document using one of those online translators, like Babelfish. They do a miserable job, especially in the case of German, but if you know some of the language and it's syntax, you can figure the document out. However, my ears are not trained enough to understand spoken German or Spanish very well at all.
in Southern California. (Hollywood area)
I'm from Malaysia. I speak three languages -- English, Malay & Thai. Learned some French but can hardly speak it now.
