HI! I'm 13 and really want to grow my hair long. But, my mom and dad think that guys shouldn't have long hair. I have been growing it for about 4 months, but my dad said that i have to cut it. what should i do? also, i have wavy hair. can it grow to my shoulders?
thanks.
I'm only 15, and my parents encourage me to be myself- I can grow my hair any way I want. They say that demanding your child to cut his hair is too shallow. Its not the hair that counts.
Go to google.com and do a search for mens long hair site.
Have them read over it.
Its sensless to *MAKE* your son cut his hair.

tell the rents to get a life
i am a high school teacher and the most well adjusted kids are the ones allowed to experiment. your parents are exerting too much control
if you dont grow your hair out now you;ll want to do it when an adult. if you do it now you might be short hair when adult.
if they are a couple of assholes find a length that is good for all of you then when you go to college move away and grow it eally really long.

ps pls let me know how this turns out
Hey Mike. Greetings. When I was 13, I also wanted to grow my hair long, but my father insisted it must me short. (He had a crew cut)
I was just an average student, ya know C's, a few D's. He told me something that has stuck with me for many years. If I were to bring home straight A's, I could wear my hair anyway I wanted. Well, needless to say, that wasn't going to happen, so I just waited unitl I was old enough to be out on my own, and then I could have my hair anyway I want to. Even though your parents are being unresonalble on this issue, it is, after all, their house and they make the rules.
Side note: I am 48 years old now. I have a long blond ponytail half way down my back. I have 2 boys, ages 10 & 12, who I give hair cuts to when needed. They prefer short hair, although I wouldn't let them grow it as long as mine unless they brought home all A's too. If my father wouldn't have made me wear a "butch" when I was young, I probably wouldn't be a longhair at all. But he made it a big deal (like society does) and I wanted to be a rebel.
You probably wonder: what does bringing home good grades have to do with growing your hair long ? You might say it is a privilage like using the car on Friday nights. Parents will began to build trust in you when you are better educated.
Never the less, I think your parents should re-consider. Good luck dude. Oh, and you can grow wavy hair to your shoulders. All it will take is about 3 years of NO haircuts, and the usual shampoo & conditioner. Good luck.
Butcher your hair so next time they leave you alone. Just take some clumps and cut it all the way. The rest leave long - hey you may start a trend - and on top of that color it really ugly color.

Oh, and I forgot to mention - do it at your friends house.
Well, as a parent, but a young one, I have to say yes you have to follow their rules when you're under their roof, but when you're old enough, go for the gusto. It's your head. And about the wavy hair, I have a luxurious mane of shoulder length wavy auburn hair. It'll go through an awkward stage, and there will be nothing you can do about it, but when it hits shoulder length or a little bit beyond, it's gonna look gorgeous. Just make sure to take good care of it.
p.s. If you really want to prove a point to your parents, you could show them a picture of John Gotti and ask, "Is this short enough?" Then point to a picture of Timothy McVeigh and ask, "or would you prefer this?"
