Something I'm also curious to hear from everyone. Right now I'm using a product called Samy. I'm hoping to get some better ones this weekened that can make my hair thicker and richer.
Garnier Fructis
1) Length & Strength.
2) Sleek & Shine.
Oh cool, I've used their products before and still do somewhat.
Shampoo: Every 3-5 days i use this organic shampoo-
" Its All Good. Naturally organic shampoo with Rosemary and Mint. "
Conditioner: About once a week I use Garnier Fructis Leave in Conditioning Cream Sleek & Shine.
I like both of them very much, especially the natural shampoo.
Right now I'm using Pantene Pro-V smooth and sleek, though I might try out VO5 the next time I have to buy more, thanks to Shinimikra's info from from down the page.
I am using mane and tails because its what I can get here and doesnt cost a fortune... and it makes my hair appear thicker and smoother too...
Just to let everyone know, this is Ex Blonde, I changed my username and updated my profile.
Dove Shampoo and Dove Conditioner: both Intense Moisturizers
Hey ex blondie , I asked something similar a few days ago. To answer your question , I was using GARNIER FRUCTIS SLEEK AND SHINE but decided to switch brands. I am now using aussie moisture shampoo/conditioner and the results are horrifying. It seems to dry my hair out excessively. So much for the moisture. I have been researching , And i think my two top choices for now are SUNSILK and PANTENE.
Hey what's up, (is Ex Blonde) I didn't know you made the same topic. Oh well...dryed out your hair? Really...I always liked Aussie's products..must depend on what kind of hair you have? 2 in 1 Shampoo/Conditioners scare me...lol
Hey! You and I spoke earlier in the chat function... Anywho, I for a while gave up all major brands of shampoos cuz, they were drying out my hair... And then I found out why, they all have silicone derivatives in them, Which invade the hair follicle, and replace the natural oils, that are supposed to soak into the hair... Ps silicone is damn hard to get out! I still haven't found away to undo the damage Pantene caused my hair (Sorry to knock pantene, but my hair used to be thicker, dang it!!)So I switched to baby shampoo for a while... No dice! That dried out my hair, SO I settled on VO5 Cuz it doesn't have silicone derivatives. If I were you I would just avoid anything, that has one or more of the following items: Dimethicone, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, or any complex string of hydrocarbons, ending in the Suffix "...one" *Shin*

Hi Shin, it's Ex Blonde (changed my name and profile) Thanks so much for your feedback, hope to chat with you again soon, see ya!
glad you found it helpful ^_^
hi shin,
what conditioner do you use?VO5 as well...thanks for the tips...next time I go to the store to get shampoo+conditioner I'll look at the labels :P
Hey thanks for the explanation about 'cones Shin, I have been struggling with my hair since I started growing it out because it is dry and doesn't shine no matter what shampoo I use. So I started shampooing less often and hoped that would help, I would then end up looking bad with greasy and dry hair at the same time :(
I could not figure out why I still had to shampoo every day when I heard long hair was supposed to absorb the natural sebum and so avoid any greasy looking appearance.
Your explanation that the cones prevent the sebum from getting into the hair follicle so the oil just stays on the surface of the hair explains my greasy and dry hair at the same time problem :)
I plan on switching to a non cone shampoo and conditioner, and then I can stop shampooing so often.
Thanks again!
*Shin*
shin, which V05 products do you specifically use? i need a new shampoo/conditioner since the ones i'm currently using are drying my hair out.
thanks, jon
You might want to try Aussie shampoo for fine hair and follow up with Aussie Mega Conditioner if you want a thicker look.
Me? Presently using Matrix Essentials Shampoo, Aussie Conditioner and when hair is about dry following up with Pearatin syrum.
I use Garnier Fructise (sp?) and love it. But if you want something to give a thicker look, use Aussie Mega Volume. Its great
I'm using pantene smooth and sleek (like James Raymond!), and conditioner I use pantene classic care..so far my hair is reacting fine to these..but I do believe there are better products out there..I'll keep experimenting :)
i use l'oreal elvive nutri-gloss shampoo and conditioner, its in pink bottles, then on every other day i use thicker fuller hair shampoo and conditioner from boots its green in colour in a clear bottle, its quite expensive but very good, then once a week i do a very deep condition with john freida brilliant brunete deep conditioner, i eat red meat twice a week and take multi vitamans, when i dry my hair i lightly towel dry then when its nearly dry i comb with a very wide tooth comb then style and dry with a large paddle brush, i find this makes my hair nice
For daily shampooing, I alternate between Mane n Tail (Normal) and Mane n Tail (moisturizing) shampoo and conditioner. Once a month, I use Joico's "Resolve" shampoo (for scalp clarification, mainly to remove cones), and its intense moisturizer conditioner.
That's it.
I currently use Aussie products formulated for dry and damaged hair for my shampoo and conditioner. For weekly deep conditioning, I use Pantene. (I didn't find Aussie 3 minute miracle as good) For leave in I use Infusium 23.

For those of us who need the watch the $, Suave and White Rain make their own versions of many of the popular products that cost a lot less. I'm using White Rain Fuit Fortifying shampoo (every third day), and conditioner in the green bottles. It's their take on Garnier Fructis, and so far I really like it!
I use Aussie Miracle Moist shampoo and conditioner. I've used it for about 3 or 4 months. It's good stuff, but I still cant help thinking that our water supply is making my hair really frizzy. I tested our water using some litmus paper - which indicated that our water is not neutral at all, infact it's quite alkaline. So I think the effect of the shampoo is being halted by our bad water.

I think the best are the organic natural ones you get in health food shops. The ones I have are are made of mainly aloe vera, with shea butter and various other hair frendly substances. The catch is they're expensive, around £5 each ($8??)
Aussie Roots and Tips shampoo and conditioner. I don't rinse the conditioner thoroughly, but leave a little bit on.
I use GARNIER FRUCTIS Body & Volume for fine or Lifeless hair both the shampoo and conditioner.
When that has finished I will try Sunsilk Supershine both the shampoo and conditioner. I don't belive in using the same product all the time. Also once a month I use a conditioner called Nourish Protein & Vitiamin it is good to use as a deep conditioner.
I am currently using Garnier Fructis Length and Strength. I haven't been using it for much time...but so far, im liking it.
Before that, i used to use a lot of Pantene Products (not any one specifically, but they all worked good for my hair)
As of now, i dont really have a preference, and maybe i'll keep using Garnier just b/c I prefer that smell :)

here is the dilemma i have found: in all these mass marketed products, it's almost impossible to find one that doesn't have something bad in it. when this came up a few days ago, i took notes of what everyone was using and went to the store and looked at the ingredients. all of the pantene shampoos started off with amonium laryl sulfate (or ammonium something) which is a deal killer right there for me. i use the gf length and strength and it has one of the cones in it but it seems okay so far (but i use it about every 3 days). all the neutrogena products i found were for people with scalp problems. i also went the expensive natural route and what i wound up with was the worst stuff i've used so far. so i guess i've decided that if i find something that seems okay to go with it but it is still fun to read what everyone else is doing and try something new. I think our needs in shampoos etc. definitely change with hair length. one thing i learned is that you don't notice differences until you get longer hair. when mine was short, i thought all the hair care marketing was a scam because everything seemed the same. it wasn't until around 6 months after my last haircut that I began to notice a difference between products and that is an on-going thing.
I've given up on all of the leave-in products. i keep thinking i'll find this magical stuff but all they do is coat my hair with something that makes it stiff and tangly like with gels.
Suave in the shower, and then Herbal Essences leave-in conditioner spritz after towel drying.
Presently I'm using Dove Shampoo and Conditioner and finding that the results are very pleasant. It's not leaving any residue and is keeping my hair soft and manageable without drying it out at all.
