With winter getting closer I am experiencing some fairly excessive dryness with my hair. Up to this point it hasn't been too bad and for once my hair was not overly unruly. I am currently VivePro for dry and rebellious hair that's thick shampoo and conditioner which have worked until now. I use jojoba oil along with a leave-in from VO5. I wash and condition daily as I have found that washing daily or biweekly has no difference on my hair when it comes to dryness. My hair is only about 7.5 inches and layered. I did have it at a uniform length around 13 inches, but it too was dry and looked pretty bad. Does anyone have any suggestions, products, or techniques to help me survive yet another winter of dry hair?
I agree with you. The scalp too becomes very dry and itchy. Yesterday I tried deep conditioning for an hour and it sort of helped me. Just take some good conditioner smear it on hair and cover it with a shower cap and leave it for an hour. This really helped me recover from the severe dryness and scalp itch caused by 14F temperature during my last week canada trip.

Hi - You might want to try picking up a humidifier - I got one for about $14 and it works well. The dry indoor air makes me feel like I have a sunburn, and makes my scalp really itchy. The humidifier helps a lot. I have a vaporizer one, which boils the water - I like it cause you don't have to worry about bacteria or anything, though it might be a little to warm and steamy for some people. Also, it gets real hot, so I'd never leave it on when I was out of the house.

I was considering buying one just because the dorm room gets fairly stuffy and dry, but since you mentioned the scalp benefits, I'll definitely have to try and find a good one. Thanks.
You can fill up a few coffee cans, or any larger cans (plastic or metal it does not matter) Just fill with water and put on your floor register vents. Keep them filled and you have a inexpensive humidifier that works great.
