if you're around 50 years old or older you know what it is!
"Brylcreem, a little dab'll do ya"
it's just greasy gunk that was sold to young guys around 45 years ago when short hair was the style like now, but in pre-Beatles days it was fashionable to grease down your hair. get it all greasy and shiny and comb a part in it and all the gunk would make it stay in one place. then you'd get your bobby sock saddle shoe date and go to the dance. Think of the first Back to the Future movie and Crispin Glover's character Mr. McFly. But anyway, (coming back to the present) no, it's not something you want in your hair in my opinion. It has a high Yech factor.
Ok,thank you
what is Yech factor by the way?

I think when posting do realize that English or US English and metaphors may not be everyone's first language (hell, it isnt my first language either)... but I think he means the stuff is somewhat yucky. I thought at first greasing hair would be good for it... but I hate how it felt...
yes thanks tai fu for clearing it up. i forget that some expressions do not translate well when I lapse into slang.
Gross. Stinky. Yucky.
"A little dab will do it," just may be truth in advertising. I have known users who treat it as a leave in conditioner, but whose hair does not look greay after it dries.
Yech? I may be wrong but it has a sound of emesis to me. Am I wrong?

I sure do remember that "little dab'll do ya!" Got that silly tune going through my head now! As far as I remember, it resembled perfumy vaseline. (I never did use it)
