I was thinking of ways to experiment with my 11 month (awkward stage) hair in order to temporarily be a little more in style with my peers. (and not resort to trimming)
The hair that is in style here, where i live, for young men: Short short buzzcut with fine hairline, braided, and (in my university) long ponytailed hair.
My friends and sister told me to try out getting my hair braided/ cornrows.
I am considering it as a style for a few weeks since it will at least keep me in style here for awhile.
Is there anyone that can tell me the effects of braiding my hair? I am afraid that it will damage the quality of my hair or make my straight hair permanently curly..or something to that effect...but i really have no idea...since i've never had it done.
And once more thing, please, if i DID have it done, how would i go about washing it...or is washing it not necessary for about a 3 week time period...
Thanks,
Gio
PS.---Dont get me wrong...Even though i am in the awkward stage now..i am still loving my hair and the thought of cutting it short has NEVER crossed my mind.
Gio,
While cornrow braiding won't change how your hair grows afterwards, tight braids can be very stressful on your scalp and hair. They'll also go shaggy over time so it won't be the neat look it starts out like. I bet you are more judgemental about how your hair looks than others are. Maybe all you need is a pair of sunglasses on your head to hold your hair back or a bandanna.
