HI. I'm considering getting away from commercial hair care products and going for a natural thing.
Some ingredients mentioned in homemade hair care are
- Beer
- Honey
- Lemon Juice
- Olive Oil
- Apple cider vinegar
- oatmeal
- eggs
Did I mention Beer?
Anyone else put food on their hair? Any recipes?
I think these products would benefit your hair more if you EAT/DRINK 'em... :P
Drink enough beer, and your mane looks really good. So does everybody else's!
Bill
Even bald dudes' manes!
Yyyupp! Ya bedddah beleeevit, budddy (hic)!!
lol, beer in hair care. Why don't you try some absinthe shampoo?
On a serious note, except for perhaps the beer and the oatmeal, those are all excellent "ingredients." I make an exception for oatmeal because I imagine it would be abrasive to use, although this quality could potentially be useful in cleaning the scalp. However, I more think it would just be damaging to both your strands and your skin. And beer is just, well, beer. 'nuff said. Although, I'd imagine drunken detangling would be quite a surreal experience.
The only "recipes" that come to mind are to mix the apple cider vinegar with one quarter parts water when using it, so as to lessen the vinegar's acidity. It's potentially pretty harsh stuff. Also, you can mix honey and/or various oils in with your conditioner. I just mix them in my hand in the shower.
The egg is more of a specialized thing that some curly-haired people use, along with mangoes and various fruits (though not necessarily in the same mixture). What they basically do is just mix various fruits and oils together into a mix and see how it works on the hair; it seems more like trial and error than a science to me. Speaking of which, something like guacamole, depending on what you put in it, might actually be pretty good for your hair - avocadoes are rockin' fruits. But your scalp might not appreciate too much Tabasco sauce. :P
Peace
