I have really short hair all over(#2 Gaurd all over) and want to grow my hair to maybe shoulder length to tie it in a small ponytail. What are the steps for me to take. Do I get it trimmed at certain times or just let it grow all over? Please help!
Hi and welcome Juzmi. Glad you found us.
The BEST thing to do for now is just allow your hair to grow non-stop and stay away from all Barber Shops or Salons.
If you look in "Links" at the top of the main page you will find a number of great articles having to do with long hair. I would suggest highly reading the one by Bill Choisser at this point as being the most helpful to you of all in the very beginning stages.
Good luck and let that hair grow!
I know that I would have been better off by getting mine trimmed just a "tiny little" bit over the last two years. This would have eliminated many split ends thereby reducing tangles and causing less damage to my hair, but I know that some people are probably going to scream at me for saying this.
It has been said here many times that getting your hair cut to promote growth is like having sex to promote virginity. The best thing to do is let it grow, keep it conditioned and follow the advise offered here to take care of it to prevent split ends, tangles, and other damage.
Listen To The Longhairs...The Longhairs Are Wise.
You are starting out with hair that is the same length all over
so you shouldn't need any 'evening out.'
In fact, the only thing you really need a lot of is patience.
Good luck
