Hello. I'm slowly growing my hair out. I dont want it massively long - not shoulder length or anything. My goal is to have all hairs to just below my chin. Currently my fringe can just about get in to my mouth. I figure ive got a few more months in the awkward stage yet. My hair has some split ends and damage however. I obviously want to get rid of this but I'm not sure of the best way to do it. If i have my hair cut quite severely I'm not sure I'll bother putting up with working through the awkward stage again. I dont mind doing it once but to effectivwely double it's length of time... It sounds a bit much.
How viable is it to leave mny hair growing for a few months, then get the split ends/unhealthy parts trimmed, then carry on for a few months..? By 'viable' i mean if I am now treating my hair well will the hair continue to get unhealthier or will it remain the same? If it will get unhealthier then obviously i will have to cut it all off in one go, but if it wont get any worse I can just trim bits off as my hair gets longer so it doesnt look like i lose too much length at once.
Cheers,
hi.
it's all good, man. everyone has their own "ideal" length here...not everyone here want's super-long hair.now to your questions..
you don't have to make a "severe" haircut,as you say, to get rid of damage..one inch should be more than enough. Now,having said that, you have 3 options:
1)you can get a 1 or a half-inch trim now.And then just let it grow to your goal.
2)target ONLY the split ends.Namely, have someone you trust look for and cut ONLY the split ends.
3)leave it alone and get a trim when you reach your goal.
Well, honestly, I'd find it hard to believe that you have split ends at that length. Unless you're really rough on your hair in some way.
How do you know you have split ends?
I'd wait it out... if the shortest part is down to your mouth and you're aiming for chin length, you can always get it cut later, and get it evened-out, too. Unless you know you have some serious damage or something, I'd wait.
