Hi hope all is well with everyone.Last week while working on a jobsite I noticed this kitty milling around hanging by anyone who would pay attention to it.I was at this site off and on for three days and found the cat was still there each day and was obviously a stray.Well it wasn't too bad weatherwise last week as it was very mild and no rain but on Saturday the weather got much colder after a front went through with a lot of rain and all.Well I decided late Saturday to go back to this site and if the kitty was still there I would rescue it.When I arrived that night the poor kitty was hunched up by the front door to this building that was closed for the day. With food in hand and a vacant cat carrier I fed and scooped up kitty and took it home.Well kitty is very happy with a real home but needs a cool name which is where you guys come in.Any suggestions as I attached a pic of kitty.I'm not great at naming pets but I'm sure someone is creative out there.Anyway thanks for reading my story as I await a new name for a great longhaired kitty!Mark
I have 3 cats named Midnight, Pumpkin and Checkers, how about naming your kitten Storm because it was out in the weather.
Hey. That's a nice cat! The only name I can think of is Samson:P. Hope this helped!
-Mihnea
I vote "Archie". Look at him (her?). There's a bit of an 'M' pattern on the forehead; I can't recall what breed it is that has this, but it's a specific breed. Usually the 'M' is a bit more well defined, but you can definitely see it. It reminded me of the "McArches" people get when growing out, but McArches is a bad name for a cat. I've heard cats like high pitched sounds, so names with long E sounds in them are good. So... Archie.
That's really nice of you to save a stray, too. Way to go!
Nice cat! i use to have a cat named fuzzy
Hi
Mark you missed a detail out as you never mentioned weither the Kitten was a Male or Female !
Axel
Sorry I suppose that would be good to know for this assignment!LOL.Anyway the kitty is a female as I did take it to a vet this past Monday to have its general health checked out and also to confirm its gender.
I wish I can scoop up a cat but my house is very small, just one room for all my stuff so its a bad enviroment for cats. I used to have 2 cats we just call one big cat (as in older, because we had it first) and another cat we call it little cat because we had it when it was a kitten. I am bad at naming pets too.
Beautiful kitty! Wow, I really like the markings on her...especially where the eyes meet the nose. Looks like an arrowhead. I'm bad at naming cats especially without observing their personalities. But, I'm sure it'll come to you in time. Sadly, I just lost my little feline buddy of 16 1/2 years 3 weeks ago. But seeing your new little friend brings a smile to my face. Great story...Enjoy her!
It was bound to happen as cats that old can come down with any number of diseases.
I was forced to have my cat put to sleep as she would not eat or drink any more.
Oh well...
Yep...16 years is a good run. My little guy was battling hyperthyroidism for the past year and the medication didn't help. He finally went blind the last week of his life and we both knew the end was near. He passed peacefully laying next to me on the couch late one evening. 16 wonderful years together.
thats so sad, i have 2 cats both at the tender age of 4, I don't know what I would do if mine died
I've had cats for many years and it's always tragic when they get old and die or have to be put down. Seems I beat myself up over the decision. It's one of the hardest things in life but I found the best is to just go adopt another one because there are always many looking for homes.
...getting another kitty right away...or soon, anyway, is a good idea.
But who am I to talk: it's going on five years since my cat died and
I still haven't replaced her!
Anyway, that's what I see when I look into your cats face.
I hope it 's not a biter!
I like Demon too.
Mark, that is a strikingly beautiful cat. Very intense gaze she has. I was trying to think of a name to convey this and showed this pic to my girlfriend and she came up with a great one:
Owl
I think it fits cause she has the coloring of some and the gaze and the mystery too.
I like Norse names so I thought of Freyja.
Congratulations on your new friend, she is sure lucky :)
....as we say around here...."that's a great looking mane you've got going there !!"
I took a poll of all my feline friends around the ranch and they are torn between "Opal" and "Emerald"
Gotta' love those eyes !!
WWT
Name it "Bird Dog". It'll be awesome.
Any suggestions as I attached a pic of kitty.I'm not great at naming pets but I'm sure someone is creative out there.Anyway thanks for reading my story as I await a new name for a great longhaired kitty!Mark
Hi Mark -
I'm a big animal lover, with a particular fondness for cats (I can relate to their indifference and independence!)
Anyway, as for a name, I've read the suggestions so far and tossed some ideas around my brain cells as well. Somebody suggested "Sampson", but since kitty is a 'she', perhaps "Delilah" (who cut Sampson's hair)is more appropriate? You could call her "Dee" for short!
Somebody also came up with "Storm", an excellent and appropriate name considering the environment in which she was found, and again, being a "she", "Stormy" might be a good choice as well.
I had a friend years ago that only named a pet after observing it for some time, to grasp it's personality and such so that a most deserving name could be bestowed. One of his cats became known as 'Sandakahn', a cartoon cat from Italy.
In the big scheme of things, take all our suggestions to heart, and choose one (or two), or you just might end up naming her yourself! (not like my in-laws.... they got a kitten, and referred to her as "kitty", figuring they'd give her a name eventually... for 19 years, she was known as "Kitty" !
Good Luck! And congratulations on the new addition to your household. She's one lucky kitten!

Hi Mark:
I like the name "Tempest" since she has gone through a major storm, and also due to the wild look in her eyes.
Absalom
We've got a kitten (well, she's 1 1/2 now, so not such a kitten) that we named after watching her for a few days. She had no fear of the other cat, Rascal, or the dogs, Kiera and Rover, and would take on anybody in a wrestling match. This in spite of the fact that she was small enough to sleep in the cordless phone charger. After seeing our Warrior Princess in action, we had to name her "Xena".
Even now, she's watching me from her perch on top of the monitor (she loves the warmth!).
I do remember a neighbour naming his cat "Hammer", but I felt it was quite silly, even back in 1972, because he found his cat in a construction site.
I would think of a better, sweeter name for this sweek looking beauty: Felicia
Your cat has a fine coat, and should keep you good company.
Have a nice day,
Georges in Montreal.
I like the name "Buzz" for a longhaired cat.
I also wanted to name my Dalmation "Stripe" but my kids wouldn't go for it.
She looks like a 'Bubba' to me.
Very cute cat!
Vince
Looks like "Bandit" to me
Is your kitty a male or female? That was so nice of you to give kitty a home :) My boyfriend and I could'nt decide on a name for our cat for months when we first got her, and just ended up calling her kitty. She now has several nicknames to fit her unique personality. How about fluffy? (a classic name, but a good one)
.
It's always nice to hear about people taking in stray pets. Ironically, a friend of mine rescued a stray kitten last night outside one of the buildings here on campus.
Anyway, the joke suggestion would be to go with "Hairball", as it's your forum name, but I think she kinda looks like a "Benny" or something. =)
-James
How about Linx?
So glad you rescued that poor kitty--I don't understand why anyone would abandon her. Quite a ball of fur with glowing eyes. I'm not very good or original with coming up with names but maybe Furball, to go with Hairball.
David
Awww, cute little thing. She's cute so she needs a cute name .... how about Tinkerbell?
Neil
My girlfriend just informed me that Tinkerbell is one of Paris Hiltons dogs names. Second shot, how about Tibbie?
Neil
How about naming the little guy "Montgomery"? He's got a pretty prominent tabby "M" on his forehead, and you can always call him "Monty" for short.
That's, of course, assuming he's a boy. Marilyn might be a good choice otherwise. ;-)
Name it "Hobo" or "zwerver". zwerver is dutch for hobo. How about "landstryker"(Norwegian for hobo). Well , good luck with your cat and hopefully you find an appropriate name.
Ophelia, Samhaina, Sammy, Darla, Misty, Ciara, Sapphire, Moon, Vampira, Lulu, Kilta, Blue, Oceania, Ursula, Queen. These are what came to mind more or less impulsively. That's quite a stunning feline you've acquired, and I wish you much happiness with it.
Peace
Beatiful kitty, really. Why not Tiger? I mean, considering the stripes in the fur. Or why not litle Tiger (spoken out "Lil' Tiger). That sounds kinda cute ;)
