Heya all!
I´ve been dreaming of geting long hair for several years now and I´ve finally decided to go for it. Might aswell try since I won´t be able to try later in life. Anyways, I´m 19 years old so the hair loss hasn´t kicked in yet, but I do have kinda thin hair. I talked to my hair stylist/cuter and she thinks it´s definately possible. I´m kinda worried though that it´ll look like crap when it´s long and thin. Anyone else with long thin hair with any good pics that might ease my worries?
I´m one of those guys who know nothing about keeping my hair healthy. I´ve had my hair cut short my entire life, an it´s maybe 5-6 cm (slightly more than 2 inches) at the moment. I realize that I need to take good care of it from the start, so what do I need to know?
Oh, and why do I want long hair? It looks great and I listen to heavy metal. I also play guitar and I really feel that something´s missing. You can´t headbang properly with short hair now can you?
Cold greetings all the way from Sweden!
Thanks in advance for your replies!
Yes. Here is mine.
For starters click on "Links" at the top of the page and read the thesis by Bill Choisser. It will answer tons of your questions.
Good luck to you in growing out your hair and welcome!
That looks really good actually. Thanks mate! :)
Hey man,
I have a friend who has really, REALLY thin long hair, but it looks really cool. So I wouldn't worry about it ;) I don't have a picture of him to put your mind at rest, but simply go for it. If you really don't like it,you can always cut it, can't you? (Even though it's almost a sacrilige).
Can't help you much on keeping it really healthy, I'm a dirty long haired dude ;) I just wash it frequently and use hair conditioner.
Good growing!
Ah that sounds great. Thanks a lot! :)
Hello,
From the pic you posted your hair looks very think and just fine, however you did mention hair-loss. I can't help, but stress the fact that young men need to monitor their hair very closely and check for signs of hair-loss. If you do suspect that you are experiencing MPB,(male pattern balding) then you need to see a qualified Doctor, preferably a dermatologist. Propecia, a 5 alpha reductase inhibitor, works wonderfully (especially for young men) for preventing hair-loss and it has a good safety profile. Anyway, good hair!
how do you know that your hair is gonna look thin?you'll never know until you grow it out...the awkward stage isn't called "unchartered territory" for nothing...you will find out that your hair is gonna continuously change shape as it get's longer.quite frankly, when I was starting out,I wasn't expecting to have hair as thick as it is now..so don't give up your hopes just yet..:)
Well, it IS thin at the moment. Not super-thin but it´s thin. Let´s hope you´re right that it´ll get thicker as it grows. :)
You need to feel it in your soul, almost.
You can have all kinds of 'reasons' for growing your hair long but...
...your desire to be a Longhair had beter come from deep within.
Good Luck!
