My beard has a tendency to grow out from my jawline which makes it look generally woolly. Now, that might not necessarily be bad, but I was wondering what everyone's opinion would be on a beard style that would go with my hair. I'm attaching a pic with my hair tied back so that it is easier to see how it sticks out.
Should I just let it grow however it wants? It doesn't seem too keen to be styled--brushing it just seems to have very little effect. Should I trim it (just aiming for the scraggly hairs)? Shape it somehow? Does anyone have any good beard maintenance advice? Thanks, I appreciate it.

Hi, your pictures are showing up as little red x's for me.
Have you tried shampooing and conditioning your beard the same as your hair? And then comb it while it is still wet? Some will say that is damaging, but if you are not growing a super-long beard, there is nothing to worry about. I have found that this will bring come control to stray hairs.
Now, I have never done what follows, but am considering it. Usually, when my beard gets length, I clip it back short. But I figure if I let it get longer and then want to shape it a certain way, I will find a barber that does beards, go in and say, "Don't even think about touching the hair, trim the beard only." :-) I have never been able to successfully trim my beard without messing it up and having to clip it short and start over.
Google or Yahoo search for "Jeff's Beard Board". You can get lots of ideas there, and
