Hello people! I'm a brazilian boy, 21 years old and that's the 4 time I try to let my hair grow but, well, it came to the time where I always cut it out (if I get some hair of right up the forehead it goes right 2cm below my jaw).
It's been about a year and 6 months that I'm letting it grow (in this time I just cutted the tip once, buzz cutted the sides of my head once and stood all the time using "winter cap" when outside my house), but I'm not liking the way it is. It's curly in the extremities but not at the top, I guess when it gets long (if it gets long) it'll be like SorÃn, the argentinian soccer player, on the "worst hypothesis".
Also my hair is very dry, I get a hard time trying to brush it when it's not wet and the result of it is a broke hair. I won't buy special creams or whatever to pass on my hair besides the shampoo and the shampoo's wife (hair conditioner? bah, that's the other cream to help brushing) and I'll still be using the "winter cap" to hide it the time I think it's necessary.
Should I still try to let it grow? I'm not very happy about my hair ;\
I would say to keep growing it! I'm not sure how often you shampoo but if your hair is dry that may be an indication that you are shampooing too often. Longer hair does not need as frequent shampooing. I would also make sure you condition with every wash, and even on those days where you don't use shampoo, maybe do a "conditioner only" wash. I would also deep condition once a week. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your support, David, I appreciate it.
Thanks for your support too, Scooper.
It sounds like you're describing the dreaded "awkward stage", when a lot of longhairs give up and cut it. It can be such a pain to endure, be it's worth it!
It also sounds like you don't care for using conditioner. I used to think that it wasn't necessary, but have changed my mind. Not only does it help with brushing, but it improves texture and shine. If you can find a brand that doesn't contain "cones" (silicone formulas that have chemical names ending in "-cone") this is better for your hair. It also helps with the dryness problem.
Another poster recently mentioned a shampoo bar that is made of natural ingredients and doesn't require conditioner. I found this fascinating and checked the website.

I do use conditioner, a lot indeed. I guess my hair is dry because I love hot shower, very hot shower. Thanks for the help mate!
Hi Julinho,
you probably have great hair for growing it out - just allow your hair to experiment a bit on its own and forget about it for a while
- I'm sure, after 1-2 years it'll be really long, and you'll be surprised about how good it looks, and you'll just LOVE it!
Even now, I'd just wear it proudly instead of hiding it. Everyone's hair is different, and, I'm sure you look phantastic even as it is now. Post a picture if you can and if youz feel comfortable doing so.
All the best, and bõa sorte!
