i was wandering around at the local barnes & noble tonight when i came across an awesome book in the health section titled "Don't Go Shopping for Hair-Care Products Without Me" by Paula Begoun. it has 9 chapters of hair care information and then goes into a thorough review of 4000+ shampoos/conditioners/other hair products. the best part is that the book mentions specific chemicals in each formula and how they affect the hair (silicones, detergents, alcohols, etc). the final chapter is a comprehensive "best" list that summarizes the overall best products based on cost and hair type. good stuff, i'd recommend skimming through it.
