Sorry, not a great pic, but as the new year approaches I'm closing in on five years. I took this earlier today. The longest bits are to my waist. I wash it the night before and go to bed with it slightly damp, so I wake up with these loose locks that I can comb out easily if I like.
Absolutely superb long hair at its finast!!!!!!!!!
BRAVO!
Steve,
Your hair is getting very long, and is nice and thick. Want to trade? LOL
Mike
v nice
(what I would give for hair like that!!)
Looks fantastic! Can't wait 'till I reach my five years of growth allthough it seems like an eternity. lol I looks you took real good care of it during those years, keep doing that.
Looks great man. Wish my hair was as cool.
and very nice hair you have there
Looks great. You've got a hair type similar to mine, by the looks of it, and about 18 months more hair growth. I don't think my hair will be as long as yours by that time, but perhaps in another three years it will. Gives me a good indication of how it may look.
Keep it growing! :)
My new blog (with more pictures)
Man five years is quite an accomplishment, looks like you should be able to keep growing out even more if you want to. Of course then you have to actually decide when to stop yourself, not always an easy choice :)
But it certainly looks terrific now my friend, keeps me inspired!
The hair is looking great. It seems quite healthy and has some impressive length. Well , Good luck to you and happy holidays
Dude, your hair just keeps growing! It looks so thick, congrats!
Awesome hair and length ... to say it simply, beautiful mane!

Not a 'great pic' in terms of lighting maybe, but damn! your hair is excellent in terms of length/thickness/waviness. In fact that is how I hope my hair will look in 2 and a bit years (my family won't though!!) although your hair seems to be light years ahead of mine.
Don't suppose you have a picture from around your 3rd year mark (or to be even more helpful, 2 years and 9 months :) ?
How far along were you in your avatar?
Again, really excellent!
Let's see... that'd be late '04... I think this picture is lose enough to that time. Note, no beard and no glasses! I wish I could wear contacts.
I think the avatar is not much more than 3 years of growth. It really ought to be updated, probably with a cropped version of that renfest picture I posted a while ago.
thansk
Maybe there's hope for me after all! I mean I can never tell how my hair is going to 'beahve'/look day to day and your hair is certainly a bit thicker than my hair type BUT I am roughly the same length as that now.
Thanks buddy.
Hi Steve,
your hair is a great example of what patience and persistence can bring - phantastic! Great compliments to one of our accomplished "gurus" (hope you don't mind that expression ;-)
All the best, and happy holidays!
Hans-Uwe
Hi Steve,
Congratulations on reaching waist length, a real milestone, truly looks awesome! That's a dream of mine, waist length hair, although it is a somewhat unrealistic dream due to my gentics. Do you intend to grow it longer?
Keep it growing,
David
No, I just keep deciding not to change it. :)
I never thought I would go for terminal, but if my hair is average then I'm only a year away from that. So I think I'll let it go for another year before I do anything to it, although I have considered trimming out some splits.
Five years? Very cool, Steve... Keep it growing!

Steve, your hair is superb, and it reaches your waist now. Just lovely. Keep growing it.
Absalom
Lovely hair, and a tribute to your dedication.

Great hair, fantantastic length! You should consider changing your avatar. In the one you currently have, your hair is at least a foot shorter!
Keep on grown'
Bruce
Not only is the length impressive, Steve; but also your hair's thickness & fullness. The only thing I don't like about your hair is that it's not on my OWN head (lol)!!

Hi Steve NoVA, That is an excellent picture and you have some cool long hair with all that volume. I like the color too.
Wow, very nice, Steve!
Your hair looks absolutely amazing, Steve! I still haven't figured out how to grow my hair THAT long and still keep it healthy looking and thick. You have to share your secret! How did it get so long, what product do you use, how often do you wash it etc?? Don't be afraid to be too detailed! I'll take notes!
Wow, one last reply. I probably wouldn't have checked; but I'm home on vacation and have lots of time on my hands.
No special secrets. This is a bad picture, so you can't see that the last 6 inches or so are quite frizzed and damaged. However, the bulk of it *is* long and strong and I have had people who've seen it in person say that it looks good.
So. What do I do? I wash with Head and Shoulders (or the generic store equivalent) to control dandruff. If it weren't for dandruff I would only wash once a week, but the itchiness forces me to wash. When I don't wash, I do sometimes rinse, especially during hot weather when you just need to get sweat out of your hair. I think a lot of itchiness is not dandruff, but sweat that dries and leaves little salt crystals. Rinse that out before it dries, and you can shampoo just every other day.
I use Tresemme conditioners about half the time. When I use that, I brush it out while it's still very wet. That helps prevent tangles, and it's actually easier for me to brush when wet. If I don't condition, I don't wet brush, I just squeeze it with a towel. I don't blow dry it, straighten it, or otherwise do anything special to it. During the working day, it's usually tied back. I think the "don't"s are more important than the "do"s.
Thanks Steve for explaining that to me! I think your hair look fabulous, but if you're concerned about dry ends you might need a micro trim, or they'll keep splitting. Just no dramatic cuts, ok? ;) Unrefined coconut oil helped me eliminate my splitends. You could try some oil for your hair. Protect it, and keep it long!
Steve, Your hair looks excellent!
