Hello again everyone,
My apologies to getting back to the MPB topic again (hope I'm not boring everyone!), but I felt I couldn't wait the 6 months to see the dermatologist, my hair is too important to me right now. After seeing the great effects a similar medication (Avodart, not approved yet in Canada) has given Jeffrey, and accepting the fact that I DO have early symptoms of MPB, I will be starting propecia today. Maybe I'm silly, or worrying too much for nothing, but I felt I wanted to start sooner rather than later, what is there to lose, other than cost. I still plan to see the dermatogolist in 6 months, to get the specialist opinion. Anyway, just had to talk, as I don't really have any co-workers, family, etc. to talk to about this, as they're all anti longhair anyway. Anyway, thanks for listening.

Six DAYS can be a long time to wait when you're worried about something, let alone six months. Best of luck to you, and I hope starting treatment puts your mind at ease for the holiday season.

Hey , David. I am sorry to hear that you have symptoms of MPB. Perhaps Propecia will help you rid or slow this MPB , but be careful , It has some pretty bad side-effects. Well , Good luck to you and happy holidays!!!!!!
p.s. read this article on propecia. it is very helpful
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propecia
It CAN have some side-effects, they vary a lot and there's no guarantee of getting any of them (and some can even be beneficial!).
Good luck! We're here for you :)
hey David,
you can let off some steam as much as you want, that's why we're here for...but i'm wondering...how can you start propecia without a prescription?I gotta agree with Mouse...when you are worrying about something..6 days seems like an eternity!I'm sorry to hear none of your friends or family share your passion for long hair (or at least ACCEPt the fact that you like long hair). My friends don't understand why I am doing this...and I don't have anyone to talk to either.Sorry for the rant...well..let us know if it works!! :)

Hi Jacob,
Thanks so much for the reply, I really appreciate all the support you have shown me through some rather devastating news. Granted, I have been told that my MPB is mild, and may not even advance that quickly, but just to have it confirmed to me in black and white by my family doctor is a bit of a shock as my hair is EXTREMELY precious to me right now. (I want waist length so badly!) It was my family doctor who gave me the prescription, he had given me the referral to the specialist (6 month wait) It was mainly after seeing the back pictures of Jeffrey's hair (his post below) with excellent results, and the fact he had significant crown thinning before, that I decided I needed to do something now. I phoned my doctor this AM, and I got the prescription, I took my first one 1 couple of hours ago. I still plan to see the specialist in 6 months, for a more professional opinion. Anyway, thanks so much for listening.

Thanks for all the support, everyone. It can be hard, being told that you have early signs of MPB, even if mild, so naturally a little depressed right now. I felt I just needed to talk, none of my friends, co-workers, or family support long hair and would probably think I was a nut for even worrying about this, so naturally I wouldn't talk to them about it. I guess this was the only place I felt I could "let off a little steam". Hopefully, I'm doing the right thing.
Thanks again,
David
Good luck David! Hopefully this can put your mind at ease.
Happy Holidays,
Bruce
