Big thanks to Justin and Christopher H for helping me know when I should have a trim. The hairdresser was really helpful; she gave me tips on combing and how to assess damage. She was also a big supporter of tea tree oil, so I also got some new shampoo to try. I think I'm set to grow it out a bit more..

Thanks David! My current goal length is about what you see in the Johnny Depp photo above. I thought it would be about 7 or 8 months away. What do you estimate?
That sounds like a good estimate, it looks as though you may need another 3 or 4 inches so another 7 or 8 months sounds good. Maybe when you get there you might want to grow it longer!

Well, I have to be an intern at a pharmacy in April or May, so I might need another trim before then. Hopefully, if I clean it up, I can convince my supervisor there not to make me cut it short. Provided that happens, I expect to reach my goal by September or October 2007. *fingers crossed
It definitely looks a lot neater than in the previous pic you posted. Hopefully that holds up, and if not then you can always rely on time to (pardon the pun) straighten things out.
