Did anybody watch the TV show Identity last night? It's a show where the contestant guesses the occupation of the individuals on stage based on the looks and dress of the person(and of course win money if they guess right). There was a long haired man who was on stage and no one dared to guess what his occupation was. I was very happy when they revealed his occupation at the end of the show-a nuclear physicist!!!!! Yes!!! There are long haired college educated professionals out there (including me)!!! Some individuals on stage were dressed and looked obvious (The retired college professor). Others didn't. The first contestant started out OK until he started eliminating the easy guesses. A VERY INTERESTING SHOW!!!! It goes to show you that looks are deceiving!!!!! Even the male host had a ponytail!!! I will continue to watch this show regularly!!!
Great to hear there ARE long-haired scientists besides myself! I'm a chemist myself.
David
....I am a scientist for the U.S. government....HA!
The ponytailed host is actually Penn from the well-known double act Penn and Teller.
I haven't seen the show, though. Is it on cable? (Can't get cable where I am ... or any form of broadband).
It's on every night this week on NBC at 8 o'clock on the coasts. Because NBC has been losing money like crazy and game shows are cheap to produce, they've put lots of game shows on lately, and this is one of them. It's really built on the same premise as the old game shows "What's My Line" and "To Tell the Truth", where the ob ject was to figure out who REALLY did what.
I remember when I was in high school in Fort Lauderdale, a female water skier from our school appeared on one of those shows in the 1960s. It was in February and they flew her up to New York. We all got out of class to go to the auditorium so we could watch. On the show they put our classmate up there with three people from the New York area and she was the only one with a suntan. They ALL figured her out. Then last night on Identity they had a surfer girl from Hawaii and she had a gorgeous tan. I was rolling in the floor. Yeah, the contestant figured her out.
Most interesting was the nuclear physicist with the long mane, of course! He's been mentioned by others already. [big grin]
The host has a tightly braided ponytail. He definitely needs to let his hair down. [wink]
