Hi everyone,
I've only been a member here for around three months but I just wanted to say, at the risk of being a little verbose, why I think this is such a great place. My only regret is not discovering it sooner in my growing out process.
Where else on the internet can you find so much diversity? Here we have people ranging in age from their teens up to old geezers like myself. We have people of all cultures, and literally people from all over the globe. We are all united in one common goal, to grow our hair long and to support others in growing their hair long. Whether posting our latest updates, or getting advice regarding care of long hair, we can find it here. When our families, friends, etc. hate our long hair, we can come here.
It's not only about hair. We recently had one member who needed a name for a stray kitten he had rescued. We had another member who built an awesome guitar, and another who posted pictures of a wicked blizzard. What I like is the unpredictability here, you never know waht the latest story is.
It's a place to come when we have problems or are down. One member needed support when his dear friend was seriously ill. Another had sleeping problems, others may be going for surgery. I myself came here when my doctor said I had early symptoms of MPB, and needed a shoulder to "cry on", since I could not get that support from family, co-workers, etc.
I really hope this community lasts forever. To all the guys just starting their hair growth, may your awkward phase be short. To those guys (and our wonderful women members as well) who have been growing it for a while, may your terminal length be long! Merry Christmas and keep it growing in the New Year!

Hi David what a nice note just before the holidays and I couldn't have said it better myself.Yes this is quite a special place as out members are always pleasant and helpful when questions are asked of them such as you mentioned when I requested suggestions to name my new kitty.BTW Opal is doing great and my other two cats are finally starting to get used to her being around for the long haul.Anyway I too wish everyone a great holiday as well.Looking forward to many years of longhaired brotherhood!Mark
Hi Mark,
Glad Opal is doing well and the others are adjusting to their new family member. Sometime I'd like to see what your other cats look like :)
Absolutely!!
This board is a wonderful place for advice and emotional comfort from a not so caring and understanding world sometimes...
May you all have a wonderful holiday season!
Good write-up David. Indeed this is a special place in the cyber-world. I've been a full-fledge, card carrying Lurker, for the past 20 months (though I have have posted my pix a few times). This site and the folks who visit, have provided excellent hair advice.

Great note David, this is one of the most civil, polite and supportive sites EVER.
Hey David
Many thanks for your very kind comments about the Hyperboard. Much appreciated, and I do believe that you have hit the nail right on the head as to what we are all about. We intend to stay and continue on in the same mannor (as we have in the past) into the future. So glad you found us. With all best wishes to you for a Merry Christmas as well as a happy and healthy New Year.

awesome post..I love it..and i love this baord too!!this is where anybody aspiring to grow long hair (and those who are already there!) should be...this is a great place to exchange hair care tips, philosophical long hair thoughts. This is a great place to encourage one another to grow our hair and be ourselves, even when the "real world" is giving us a hard time. And the oftopic topics...they are a wonderful way for us to get to know each other better and to have fun!!
anyway, got bless the members of this board, and may you all have a wonderful holiday season!!! :))
Nice summary David;
I try to describe our "family-community" to others and just give up on the long-hair part and say it is an upbeat group of men (and women)with common interest. I have been having my morning coffee and evening tea here for several years now.....much better than the newspaper ! HA!
Take Care, Merry Christmas and Happiness in 2007 !

Be careful, for friends often make one complacent and comfortable, and enemies strenghten your resolve with the ardor of the fire-bright stars.
