Hey everyone! This is off-topic, and for that I apologize, but this was just too exciting for me not to post. Some of you may know that I've been slowly teaching myself Portuguese for the past few months, and have been progressing pretty well with it. Well, I was absolutely floored when, as an early Christmas/birthday present, my parents surprised me with a trip to Lisboa for this August!
I'll be there August 3-7, so if anyone wants to meet up and hang out, grab some food, or whatever, let me know! It's my first time there and I cannot wait to see all the sights.
Well, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone! Keep the long hair growing and flowing! =)

That is a great Christmas present. I know you will love it there. I have never been, but I am sure I would enjoy it. Now, you will be very inspired to learn some more Portuguese really quickly.
Are you learning Brazilian or European Portuguese? Although they are very similar, there are a few differences which you probably know already. Things like the initial 't' sound as 'ch' and initial 'd' as 'soft g' are heard in Brasil. (I've seen movies.) My teacher was from Rio, so I learned it how they sound there.
Keep the hair growing so you can show it off on the trip!
Merry Christmas!

European is what I'm focusing more on, although I do keep in mind the subtle pronunciation differences with Brasilian. Thanks, Matt. =)
I would--heck I'm always up for international travel lol--but I'll be in school at that time in Egypt (if everything goes well). I might visit Portugal one day. A friend sent me a Powerpoint Presentation with slides of Lisboa and it's spectacular! I can post it for anybody who wants to download it
