Hi Guys. I am thinking about buying biotin, but where exactly can you buy it(mabey the GNC?), and are there any brand-name recommendations for it?
Thanks.
Noav(John)
I bought some at GNC but later discovered that it may be more expensive than an alternative that they sell (or at least, use to sell)--"Nouris Hair." Both are GNC products. The Nourish Hair has 2000mg (yes, two thousand!) of Biotin and costed three dollars more per bottle of 120 tablets than the pure biotin 600 mg's ($15 vs $12). I discovered this after buying the Biotin, and the Nourish Hair may not be sold anymore, may cost more, and the amount may have changed. But, it also has other ingredients, too.
You can buy one and get one at 50% off, too, for GNC brand products. GNC also has a sort of 'club' card you can buy that gives an additional 20% off on the first Tuesday of each month.
Walgreen's has 800 mcg tablets in a brown bottle with a white label. You get 60 tabs for 3.99$, the best deal I have seen anywhere. They are made by Sundown and its in the vitamin aisle with all the other supplements. Doesn't mention hair on the bottle.
Also, I just want to clarify that the Biotin supplements, as well as probably all other vitamins, are measured in mcgs (micrograms, 10^-6) not mgs (milligrams, 10^-3). A milligram is 1000 times as much as a microgram. The 2000 Milligrams of biotin someone mentioned I think would be overkill, either that or you would be able to see your hair grow after taking it, if you could swallow a couple thousand bottles of pills without vomiting!! I'm joking of course!!
GNC. That's where I get it. $6.99 for a 120 tablet bottle of Biotin 600.

Hi, Nova, I wish I was using Biotin back when my hair was really long. I used to use a conditioner called Infusium (my girlfriend recommended it). It never helped it grow, but it did keep it softer. The claim was that it helped prevent split ends. Also it seemed to stain any light-colored shirts I was wearing, just in back where the hair was.
You posted the other day that you're just 16. Congrats for growing your hair when you're so young (how long will you let it get?). Mine got nearly down to my waist before I foolishly got it cut off (more bad girlfriend advice). I'm 34 now and its now to mid-back level, and the current girlfriend says she'll leave me if I cut it again. No worries about that; I'll try to get it back to waist-length again, or longer. I use Biotin, which I get at Walgreen's, but haven't been using it long enough to tell any difference.
Right now, its a little past my shoulders. I only wash it a few times a month, to prevent split ends, etc., and its not oily at all. I am going to let it get as long as it can get, until it reaches the floor(I'm 5'10")-if it ever does. :)

Dude - You and I have the same goal exactly. Dont ever get yours cut and I wont get mine either.

Hey, Guys! I really rhink long hair on guys is sexy, but strictly in my own opinion, I wonder if there's such a thing as too long. Clean and soft hair, especially blonde, down to the middle of the back really turns me ON!, but I'm not so sure that longer-than-waist-length
would be so appealing. I've never seen any that long on a guy before. As I said, I like long hair, and that's why I check out this board sometimes. What do the other gals think?
And please don't flame me, I'm just posting up an opinion.
Yep.. you can buy it at GNC. The smaller bottle is 8$, and the biggere is ... well.. more. :-)
I suggest you buy vitamans as well. That will also help the strength of your hair.

What a coincidence, I just bought my first two bottles today. Yeah, go to GNC, they're about 4 bucks per bottle of 100. I'm thinking about taking 4 a day, which is 1200 mcg. 300 mcg is 100% of the daily requirement. Peace.

I also think if you never used any vitamins and you start now, it will affect only your new growth I believe. So you may not see results till a year or so later and only at the scalp area. With more years of growing you may start noticing it on the hair shaft, don't you think?
Does anyone know if Biotin is available in England, or of any similar products that are available here?
Many thanks
