I can hardley believe that it has been 8 months already! Two thirds of a YEAR! Well, despite some criticism from a couple family members and friends (but with a surprising amount of support from the same group of peers) there is no going back! I love feeling hair blow around in the wind! I love feeling empowered by my mane! I can only anticipate the joys yet to come.
Sure, the wind can also give me tangles -- I NEVER had tangles before! -- and makes me look a bit like an escapee from the nearby Asylum ( I mean, the 'medical centre for the treatment and rehabilitation of persons with mental disorders'), but I LOVE IT!
Thanks for this awesome board! Your support has really been helpful these past few months.
Happy growing, everyone!
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
I'm glad to hear you're getting plenty of support from your peers, and that you're enjoying your ever-growing hair. It looks wonderful now, and I can only imagine that it will look even cooler as the months go by.
Happy New Year!
Mouse
Both are true. The second, more consistently than the first, but that is the more important of the two.
It looks wonderful now, and I can only imagine that it will look even cooler as the months go by.
Thanks for the positive feedback, Mouse.
The shorter one's hair is to start with, the sooner in appears longer. When are you due for an update pic? (Now that it is lashing your eyes whenever you spinkick, it must be a bit longer than the avatar pic would suggest.)
You too, Mouse!
cheers!
Shawn
I was planning on posting sometime in mid-January with a six-month update. It's not really in my eyes yet when I work out because it's wavy. It just flys out to the sides. :-)
Thanks for asking,
Mouse
It looks excellent! Much better than in the first picture!
Keep it up!
I agree. Thanks for your support, Mesmerized.
Shawn
The time just flies by, no? It is my prediction that your hair may get a little bigger before it starts to grow downward, but then, it will look awesome and you will be happy to have endured the path! I have seen people with very tightly curled hair like yours that once long is the envy of all when well done. It will probably turn out so that you can tie it back without even looping a hair tie more than once, that it you just place all the hair thru it and it stays.
Continued good luck with it all, and be sure to keep everyone here updated.
See you later, Bragi
I concur, Bragi, with your prediction. My wife only sees the big for now, but I am the one who sees the vision of what can be..we will arrive.
Thanks for the support, my shade-wearin', in-truck photo-takin', multi-lingual, fellow.
Cheers!
Shawn
Long hair is fun when you've never had it. Have fun growing it. Good luck.
- BGC
Thanks BGC. I am having fun!
Shawn
Looking good, Shawn. You are making great progress. And, don't we all look a bit like an "escapee" from time to time! :)
Robert
It is hard to see the progress from day to day, but occasionally I get 'Ah Ha!' moments of the increasing length of my hair. While still quite short, by longhair standards, it is GROWING! and I am excited by it.
Thanks for the kind words, Robert.
Shawn
You're hair is going to look awesome when it reaches greater lengths, there is no doubt that it will look fantastic. Here's to many years of long hair happiness for you
Thanks, Crimson_Ace!
Cheers to you!
Shawn
Hey Shawn, It looks great for only 8 months so far.
You are going to be one of the men that really look better with longer hair as opposed to shorter.
Hope you had a nice Christmas. :)
Later,
Chris
Thanks a lot, Chris. I think so, too, though it makes me laugh to read your statement:
"You are going to be one of the men that really look better with longer hair as opposed to shorter."
It makes me wonder what is meant by "really".
LOL
So is it that:
A) I really look awful, relatively speaking, with short hair;
B) I will really look better with longer hair, whereas others might be told that they look better with long hair, but that don't really;
or, as I seem to think,
C) Longer hair seems so suited to me that the longer it is the better (more myself) I will look.
(Please don't mind my ribbing, I really appreciate your taking the time to respond.)
I did have a good Christmas. I hope you did too!
Cheers!
Shawn
-----------------------------------------
Well, it was sincere statement. In my opinion it is B and C.
I can envision that longer hair will make you personally look better as opposed to the shorter style you had.
Not all guys really look their best in long hair, but I think that your features are perfect for the longer hair style.
And with that, I would say growing out you hair will compliment your looks rather than degrade them as with some long haired guys.
My Christmas was fine, had a nice dinner with family.
Later,
Chris
Thanks!
Glad your Christmas was good.
Shawn
It's looking better with every update. I can only imagine the awesome curly manlocks you will have with another 8 months! Keep up the good work.
David
"manlocks" hahahahahaha
"Manlocks", term I have seen used on this hyperboard that refers to awesome, thick, curly hair.
i could have figured it out for myself, much like i figuered out what "pube-locks" was.
Thanks, Dave, for the supreme compliment: Manlocks! I WILL have Manlocks..someday. Your kind words are appreciated. Have you started the Propecia yet? How's it going?
Hoping you are enjoying your Boxing Day, too, fellow Canadian.
Shawn
It's great to hear from another Canadian! I had a great Christmas yesterday at my family and have had a great, relaxing, boxing day--hope you have had the same. (I cooked a turkey for a neighbour who came over today to help me eat it!) I started the propecia exactly one week ago, it is normal that 3 months are expected before expecting results. Mainly, I want to keep the hair I have and hopefully have more thickness in the crown. I do plan an update in January. I'm trying to remember who on this board used the term "manlocks" lol! I know I heard it before from someone on this board who had curly hair.
David
I look forward to reading about the positive results you will get from Propecia and am glad to know that you had a nice, relaxing, Christmas.
Regarding the term "Manlocks", I know I've used it several times before. Perhaps you heard it from me?
Shawn
Hi again Shawn,
Maybe it was you, lol! But I DO like the term!
David
Lookin' good Shawn, you are definitely going in the right direction! Welcome to the wonderful world of wind and tangles :)
Congratulations on your terrific progress and keep on growing!
Thank you very much, Chris. What an enjoyable ride!
Shawn
Shawn,
I remember those feelings too. They only get better the longer it gets. I remember how excited I was when I could join hair from each side of my head under my chin and my fist pony tail. The tangles will get worse tho.
Looking great too!
Mike
Thanks for the reply, Mike.
I hope I can get at least a cheater ponytail by my birthday in August. Over eight months my hair went from the top photo to, when pulled out, stretching down to the end of my nose. I figure I can estimate for almost a doubling of my current length by then. Time will tell.
Thanks again,
Shawn
Hi Shawn,
I think your current look has nothing to do with the "asylum" or "mental rehab" look. Rather, it's a very presentable look, and you do look much more like a guy with character, someone who knows what he wants from life. Good to see that you grow it on - there will be more great-looking styles on the way!
All the best for 2007!
Hans-Uwe
What a complimentative response! Danke, Hans!
I feel so much more like 'me' with longer hair. I am starting to enjoy the bigness of my hair and I notice that few people outside of my inner circle of friends and family even suggest it looks bad. Most are either indifferent or approving. Thanks again, Hans.
Shawn
hehe, having to detangle is the price we pay in order to enjoy our hair being swept by the wind.A price well worth it though!!your hair si comin along greatly, there is defintely a difference in length, and doesn't look too unruly.keep growin it!! :)
Thanks, CA. I do have to detangle (and know there is more to come), but I LOVE the longer hair and look forward to more.
I appreciate your comments.
Shawn
Hey Shawn - Great to see your update this evening. Your hair is looking mighty thick and knarly (that's a good thing). Congratulations on your 8 month anniversary. That's 8 you won't have to do again!!! BTW I'm glad you're feeling good about your growth and this board. It's (active) members like you who keep it going and keep the board and our hair growing. Peace and continued success this New Year - Bruce'ster
Thanks, Bruce.
I am feeling good about my growth and this board. While I feel I am fairly active, I don't always have the time to check the posts daily. (Hooray for Christmas Holidays for teachers!)
If I haven't posted to you yet, let me say I love your new avatar and the long hair and fair colouring is a great mix. You look regal!
Thanks for your response.
Shawn
The curls are definitely looking great! Hang in there and keep on growing it.
Wishing you the best ,
~chris
Thanks, Chris. I will keep growing, for sure.
Thanks for your comments.
Shawn
Wow you can really see the difference that 8 months makes in those pictures! Your hair is looking great, and will only look better as it gets longer! Keep it growing:).
-Mihnea
Thanks, Mihnea. It really does show what eight months can do. Amazing...while eight months seems not so long a time, someone could have become a parent , learned to ride a unicycle, completed a jail term...not that I've done any of those things over the past eight months -- I've just had fun growing my hair.
Thanks for you compliment!
Shawn
-- and makes me look a bit like an escapee from the nearby Asylum ( I mean, the 'medical centre for the treatment and rehabilitation of persons with mental disorders'), but I LOVE IT!
As do I love the feel of my hair on my shoulders; it is a joy yet to come.
Don't worry about looking like an escapee; some of us started out that way!
Congrats on the progress. Keep with it.
Big George
Thanks, Big George. I really am looking forward to big curls sitting on my shoulders. Probably gonna be about 2 more years (or more) for that to happen, but I am aiming for it.
Thanks for the comment,
Shawn
