Hey everybody,
Sorry I've been absent so much-I've had a lot on my plate.
Anyway I have still been checking out the board and helping to moderate it, but I should be posting/responding more, I know , sorry sorry.
Anyways my hair is now at 34 months growth with 3 SMALL trims along the way.
As you can see I have a fantastic lift in my building which allows me to see the back of my hair (and muscles-hey, I'm a 'bodybuilder'!) everyday.
How many of you have this great feature?
But above all, I just wanted to show off my just arrived MLHH shirt. It took 12 days to get here in Australia, so all of you-especially those closer than myself-WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!??
I love you guys :)
Go, muscle-man! You look great!
Robert
hey Dean,
I didn't know you were that big lol!!you're all natural, right???I too have a thing for bodybuilding,I like wrestlers like HHH and Batista,I even go to the gym on and off (I work out for a period and then "give up" cause my gains aren't spectacular:(( ).I was wondering what food you eat to "bulk" up?well, take care man...the hair is lookin great btw, your nearing 3 years!!!:)))
I'm all natural baby (except for protein supplementation). Anyway bodybuilding has changed my life. Why? Well initially I started doing proper hypertrophy training in January 2004, one month before I grew my hair out for the second time (in case you don't know, I had grown my hair for about 2 and a half years but then after many months of family pressure, I cut it in Sept.03. I then made my family happy for 6 months as I kept my hair short, but that was enough time!)as a TACTIC to distract my family from my re-growing hair. I also thought that if I was big enough after a couple of years that my family could never say 'you look like a girl' (although that had never been a tactic when they had pressured me b4).
In fact, that was also why I grew out the facial hair for about 2 years (although i grew to love that too!).
Anyway long story short, I have been lifting weights since I was 15 , but I only got serious about it in January 04 (when I was 19 and 9months). Over time I have come to love it and have so much passion for it that it is going to be a part of my future career :)
i.e. I have recently completed the requirments for my Certificate III Fitness Instructor and in February I will be starting Certificate IV Personal Trainer.
(Along with completing my (Arts and Science) Liberal Studies Degree, it's gonna be a busy year! Or years!-as I intend to go on to complete a Graduate Diploma into a Masters in Rehabilitative Counselling-among other things!)
BUT YOU'LL LOVE THIS:
My AIM for calendar year 2007 is to get as BIG as possible (naturally of course, although I may trial creatine) as I intend to enrol in Lance Storm's Wrestling Academy!
I may never wrestle again here in Oz, but it will be a true experience and a chance to learn about the industry I love from a more intimate insider perspective.
Besides I really admire the Professional Wrestler physique (e.g. Benoit, HHH, HBK) and this will boost my training.
As for you, consistency is key my friend. Don't give up-you may be a 'hard-gainer' and you should probably see a Personal Trainer or someone with relevant qualifications, but generally speaking I'd reccomend you train really hard on a consistent basis with plenty of variety and changing up of any program you may be doing (within the workout AND in the length of time you follow that program) and most important of all: EAT EAT EAT! It sounds like you may have the bodytype that needs to eat even more than bodybuilders with more mesomorphic(/easier to gain muscle) bodytypes (and they have to eat a LOT too!)
Also check out some online Bodybuilding forums (e.g. Wannabebig.com) and don't forget the importance of your MIND-from your attitude, to self-visualisation and motivation, to the muscle-mind connection whilst performing any exercise it is pivotal.
And keep growing your hair!
Great advice here, Dean.
As one who has been on and off with his workout routine (and with upcoming New Years Resolutions coming to mind), your advice couldn't have been timely. Consistency is what is needed. Consistency over time. Thanks!
The wrestling school sounds great. I am sure you'll have a blast.
Shawn (Mr.Crowell)
PS. There is a very nice product (and it tastes SO good) that I use when I get that burned out feeling after a tough workout. It is called the P90X Recovery Formula and I get it from beachbody.com. I am not sure whether they'll deliver to Australlia, though. (And you should talk to an operator, rather than ordering online. I've had delays and mixed up orders from the company before, but letting the CSR know about the problems you want to avoid -- late shipping, expensive shipping, mix up in the product --, you'll probably have a good go of it. (If you choose it.)
Hi Dean,
Good to hear from you good to see you looking so well. Okay we'd not better mess with this name if he's going to the gym. I've often asked if I'm a bouncer due to my "well built size" sometimes!!! Mind you saying that I'm a black belt in Judo so does that count!!!
Cheers,
John.
Looking good all around! I've never been into bodybuilding, maybe I should, I'm kind of skinny myself, could probably use some muscle on myself lol! Regarding the gift shop, I got my items a month or so back (shirt and mug), and they are fantastic, mug was quite an eye opener at work! I really hope they keep the gift shop going. (It would be great if they could offer items like the teddy bear ESDI-80 got for Christmas, that's a real conversation piece!) All the best in the New Year, I have to agree we have an awesome community here.
David
Haha, very nice, Dean! Ironically, I'm wearing my shirt today too. =)
...but it looks great! THANKS for the pic and for the publicity!
Here's what the shirt design actually looks like:
Here is the correct one!
Hey Man - You're looking pretty "pumped UP!" I lift too. I was pretty serious last winter and spring; finally had to get rid of my old High School weights and bought an Olympic #300 lb. set. I LOVE it! I've been adding dumb bells as needed. I quit during the summer because I was training for a cycling event: 150mile 2 day ride. Ended up doing a full Century day #1 and 75 miles day 2. When I started back again it took me about a month to get back to my training weights but now I've passed that. The body is an amazing thing! I'm 51 and am still gaining strength and endurance. Have been athletic all my life; triathlons, marathon, endurance open ocean swimming and cycling! The long hair flying out the back of your helmet or swishing back and forth on your back while running is AWESOME. I see you mentioned Creatine. I just started using it in addition to a protein supplement. Hope to see some benefits in a couple weeks. Keep growing in LENGTH and STRENGTH!!! Bruce'ster
That's really impressive Bruce'ster!
Thanks for posting that.
Also, studies have demonstrated that even people in their 80's have experienced strength gains and other physiological improvements after weight training-you are definitely right, the human body truly is amazing!
That's a cool picture with the infinite mirrors going on in the background. The Signore is attaining some serious length as well! ;-)
You certainly do seem to have lot going on these days. The wrestling academy will probably be lots of fun for you. I just looked it up - I never knew Calgary was the wrestling capital of the world!
Just keep studying hard and you will be fine and will be proud to have accomplished all of it when done.
Now, let's think of you a wrestling NAME!!!
1) Dean the Machine
2) Earl of Sydney
3) Nazarite-Nightmare
4) ??????
HAHAHAHAHA!!!
I can't wait to go to Calgary...Alberta Canada.
Great message Signore Brown, thank you for that. I'll brainstorm with you closer to the time (I love Nazarite-Nightmare by the way!), but there's a lot to choose from e.g. Reaper, Jewish-Justice just to name 2!
Thanks :)
Hey, Dean.
The hair and muscles are looking good. Keep them both growing!
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
Thanks Shawn, and congratulations on YOUR progress by the way!
Wow Dean!
Am I ever impressed how the Bodybuilding is working out for you. What an achievement. Looks great! But if that were not enough, how well your long hair is going. Fantastic! And finally, sharing the good news about your new shirt from our Gift Shoppe with all the other guys. Thank you! May you have a wonderful New Year 2007 ahead of you.
All the best-
Justin~
ps: (Here in the US it usually takes from order to delivery 5 or 6 days. That shirt looks sensational on the bodybuilder, and the bodybuilder looks great in that shirt!)
Hi Dean,
both the elevator and the bodybuilding picture show how your hair is gaining more and more length - great!
All the best, and, happy growth forever!
Hans-Uwe
Keep pumping man! Great hair - congrats!
