Hopefully I'll be able to upload this pic, which was taken earlier this month along the rugged coastline just South of San Francisco...
I refer to my current hair length as "ALMOST" belt-length, because only the very tip of the V-shape in back reaches the top of my belt (without tilting my head back). When more of my hair gets that far down, and it effortlessly starts to hang around my beltline, THEN I can more legitimately refer to it as "belt-length" (lol)!!
Just so any of you that are interested know... this is what 6 & 1/2 years of growth looks like! (I had a typical guy's short haircut on June 21st, 2000, --- and have re-grown it, non-stop, ever since...)
Thanks to Even, my partner, for taking this pic!
- Ken
Looks great, and it matches the cliffs! :)
I am envious of a coastal view of the sea and cliffs like that.
Robert
Lol!! Thanks, Robert! Yes, and I've also found that by always taking pics of myself around sunset time, that I can stay "eternally blonde" without having to dye my ever-greying locks!
- Ken
Nah. That's not gray. That's CHARACTER! I know. I have quite a lot of "character" showing up in my beard. Couldn't be gray. I'm sure of it! :)
Robert
I am SLIGHTLY "stretching the truth" here in this pic; but, hey, at least I'll admit to a small amount of cheating! Actually, to whatever degree I might be tilting my head back in order to make my hair look longer, believe it or not, I no longer have to struggle at all to pull it down to touch my belt...
Now, if only my hair would just grow a little FASTER (lol)!!
- Ken
Ken - Your hair is unreal!!! Your avatar doesn't do you justice! Great color too. I hope mine keeps growing to that length and stays as thick and healthy as yours. We'll see in another 5 years I guess. Bruce'ster
Hey, Ken. I have to say that, while true that your Avatar doesn't show your hair off as much as these pics so obviously do, it is a great pic for showing a mix of hair and person: I immediately felt I could approach you and speak freely with you because of your easy-going, relaxed smile. The happiness apparant on one long-hair's avatar can seem a promise of future delights for those of us who are still early on the path.
Sincerely,
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
Ken
Gee Im So Jealous its Sooooooooo LOnggggg looks great to

Hey Ken,
A great picture there and certainly shows off you hair well and beautiful colour as well. Your certainly reaching another goal length and keep it growing.
You've got a great photographer there and certainly knows how to take a good picture.
John.B
Beautiful texture and color. Keep it growing!

Looking good. Nice beach scene too.
Hi Ken,
That's an awesome update, belt length is such a fabulous milestone, that's a dream of mine, that I get to that length! I was wondering how long your hair was at the 2 3/4 year mark, I just wondered if yours was similar to my length now and if I have any hope of getting to belt length? That's an awfully pretty setting, it almost looks like a private beach. Someday I would love to get to California, I live in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Keep it growing!
David
Stunning Ken! Congrats on reaching or at least very nearly reaching, belt-length! That is basically my final goal. I measured it as being 40 inches from my front hairline.
That photo is very impressive, Ken. You seem quite proud of your achievement (as you should be!) and it definitely sets the bar high for the rest of us. =)
That beach is quite beautiful, btw. My sister lives in the Bay Area... I really should visit sometime. Oh well...
Keep up the awesome growing and keep making the rest of us jealous!
-James
Great view of the coastline. And many congrats on your hair; very impressive.
FYI They have some pretty wide belts in Texas that can get you closer to your goal instantly! Might look like Grampa Moses with his pants under his armpits, but it would give you braggin' rights!
Keep up the good work.
George
O Kenny, O Kenny,
With blond locks a plenty,
So long your hair does grow,
Longer ever than I will know!
Scintillating and shimmering,
Resplendent and coruscating,
Like sun-kissed corn silk,
Flowing like sugary milk.
That's a very good picture and a beautiful natural backdrop as well.
See you later, Bragi
Wonders never cease here! Hair and prose both grow and flow in an organic, natural manner!
Bragi - great words.
Ken - inspiring, gorgeous, wonderful hair. (And the honesty about what belt-length means to you is also wonderful!)
Even - nice camera work and thanks for supporting the (re)growth of such a great head of hair.
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
PS. I have to say, I've seen that pose before, Ken, though usually when camping with other guys, and it has usually been the posture of choice for, oh, say 30 - 40 seconds after waking up (or after a few 'Barley Sandwiches').
None of this earlier viewed posturing could even begin to compare.
(Though I am glad that the only golden streams in this picture are your sun-kissed locks.)
Wow, you have amazing hair! Very very nice indeed.
Hey Ken
What a great shot of how long your hair is. Really nice colour too. Thanks for posting this photo. Now we all know for sure how great your long hair is..............and it is GREAT! :-)
Justin~
Looking great Ken!
hey Ken looking good there
keep it growing and stay
away from things that are
not good for hair
When ever I see pics of you're hair I look at a true labour of love and care as you have one of the most enviable manes on the board that makes us all jealous. I really like the colour and I would be truly grateful to reach the awesome lengths that you have now reached. May belt length hair and beyond be you'rs and have a happy new year Ken.
Yuor hair is looking great, Ken. I see what appears to be some curling near the ends, otherwise it would look even longer.
Absalom
I really like your high light hairs... I think you 2 must be the happiest couples on the planet. Wish I had someone...
Me too... (sigh)... oh well, someday Mr. Right will come along! ;)
On a sidenote, or should I say back to the original post, your hair looks a bit darker in the recent photo as compared to the avatar. Is that just me, or is it due to the lighting conditions, or did you get highlights? In any case, very impressive length. I'm at three and a half years, so still a ways to go.
My new blog (with more pictures)
Great looking hair - well done!
