I'am now going to grown my hair back to its original length before I went to boot camp with was shoulder length. I might even try growing it longer. I just hope that I don't continue the same dark path that my father walked after he got out of the military...Crew cuts for the rest of his life. He says that he doesn't feel right when his hair gets long around his ears. Just wish me luck and thanks guys for this page. Support is always needed for people who don't like to conform to the norm. Peace

Best of luck to you . . . I never grew my hair past mid-ear until after serving eight years in the U.S. Air Force. I'm very proud to have served, but there's something about *having* to keep your hair short that made me want it long. Currently it's twixt my shoulder blades and I ain't stoppin'! ;^)

Got for at least mid-back... :) That's where I'm headed...

I wish you all the luck (patience, perseverance and support) you need, Michael!
I was in the Army for 9 years. After getting out, I, too, kept my hair short, because of my job at the time. Then, I decided to become a truck driver, and have been growing my hair for 6 years. It's half-way down my back now, and I'm going for waist length. So keep it up, my old Army buddies think it's great, but don't have the courage to grow theirs long themselves. You have to put up with a little unrulyness at first, but it is worth it. I used to tell my wife I'd leave her if she cut hers. Now she says it to me. ;)
do you like to litsen to books on tape it would be great for long trips
