Well im kind of been having a mental debate lately. I currently work at Citimortgage, which is a call center customer service kind of jibberish. I made 11.30 a hour plus commision. Its decent pay for sure, more than most jobs im qualified for. But alas call center jobs are pretty crappy. So at my age of 20 im debating weather to continue my job here or go to school. Im not the type that can juggle both, as the only positions at my job are full time . I still live at home which is fine, but am i better off getting a part time job and getting a degree so i can have a decent job i like?
It depends. What type of job do you like? What do you want to do for the rest of your life? I firmly believe in education, but education without direction or goals can be an expensive waste.
If you are unsure of your direction, you might look at taking some of the testing to determine what you would be good at, or where your interests may lie. You can do this while still employed.
I would also recommend meeting with a counselor at a college or university near you for the same purpose. These people are trained to assist you in making these decisions.
It may be that you need to continue to work until you reach some conclusions. My daughter has taken almost 2 years out of high school to find a direction and work towards it.
If you aren't sure of your selection, you might change jobs to work in an environment related to what you think you might want to do. This will give you some insight into the inner workings of this profession and help you reach a decision. You may then be able to continue to work there part time while attending school.
I wish you the best.

Is this in any way related to your hair? (Men's Long Hair Hyperbpoard..)
YES - get in school now and you will be glad you did in more ways than just a better job.
it's a no-brainer--GO TO SCHOOL
Well, I'm quite a minimalist in this respect; Do what makes you happy.
Though, - keep in mind ! - if you are better educated you will find it easier to find a job that you actually like. You're young and it's much easier to learn something at your age. May you decide to keep working, you may regret it when you decide at an older age to learn, because it will be harder then.
To quote Mahatma Ghandi: "Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."
Hi Trevor,
just a quick word, I don' have much online time: I'd definitely get a degree. As an unskilled laborer (sorry about that), you are already making a "top" wage, it won´t increase over time. Plus, you may get bored over time. When you are 40 and have a family, you WILL need more than $ 11.50 an hour.
If tuition is an issue, hang out in Europe for a while, learn a foreign language, and enjoy studying at a university for as little as 200-300 euros a semester in tuition and charges.
Drop me a note if you want me to say more.
All the best!
Hans-Uwe
You may also want to consider self employment. If you have a particular skill that you enjoy using, you can probably start a business around it. Being self employed myself, I can tell you that it is quite rewarding. There are many ways to earn an income other than working a day job...and no-one can complain about hair length either ;-)
Never miss an opportunity to pick up some education....it will always expand your appreciation for Life !!
Go for it !

Trevor,
If you arent happy with that now, there's no way you are going to like it anymore later.
I am 20 years old, and I go to University. I will graduate from my pharmacy program in 2010, and graduation leads directly into a career where the starting pay is more like 40$ an hour.
Trevor, it depends on your values, but remember that you only live once. University isn't for everyone, but if you want to put in the work, you will probably be rewarded greatly for your efforts.
On the other hand however, I do have older friends who went through university, got their degree in computer engineering, couldn't find work (because it's all outsourced to India), and ended up working fast food. -->all that work for nothing.
If you take the education route, make sure you do your research first..
take care, (and what does this have to do with hair, btw?)
