Hey guys!
I have a question, for anyone who can answer =P
I hae been thinking of having a hair site =) It's something I'd really like to do, tough I don't know how to do it. I've learnet to program html with dreamweaver, but I've got no idea how to put the site on the internet.
I would like to know how to do it, and if there some free host or something, for I don't really want to spent money with it =P Any help and tips would be greatly apreciated =)
Thank's for reading!
Geocities works surprisingly well for me. I pay $4.95/month for increased bandwidth but you can get a free site there. I know very little html so I use the Pagebuilder feature there and it makes it comparatively easy. If you choose to check it out, feel free to ask me any questions you might have.
I think it's an awesome idea BTW! I really hope you make the site.
Thank's for replying Jason =) Have you got any idea on how I upload I site make with dreamweaver? I don't want to use those templates, is there any way to do this? Thank you =)
I know Geocities allows for html coding so you don't have to use their Pagebuilder. I'm really not sure how you'd go about uploading it though, sorry. Someone with more technical knowledge could probably tell you.

There are lots of free sites "out there". Some give you freedom to craft your own pages and others hold you within a rather tight template. Most of course add advertising to your pages and many limit traffic. Traffic limiting can make it tough to share photos on the Hyperboard because too many people will look at your site at once and trip the overload sensor.
Jason mentioned paying a small sum. Don't overlook that option. Just ten bucks a month at lots of web hosts will get you a site with awesome traffic, no advertising, and all the space you'd ever need.
One thing to consider is whether you will have static pages or dynamic ones. The difference really is, "Will I let site visitors change my web site?" If you have a guest book or something similar, headaches go way up. (The MLHH is an example of a site that lets others change the site.) Once you do that, the site has to be watched (i.e., moderated) or Lord knows what will end up on it. And the programming gets a lot more complex.
Many of the free sites don't provide for dynamic content, but the ones you pay for generally do. Not that you have to use that feature, of course. And sites you pay for ought to let you create Dreamweaver pages in HTML and upload them with FTP (not that all will). Most do though. Check that before signing up since that is important to you. Ask them if they allow you to upload pages using FTP.
Another thing to consider is that some free sites are hard to relocate away from, in case you decide you don't like them. The template and profile sites especially are that way. They provide no way to get your material off the site if you want to move it elsewhere. This is generally no problem at all with pay sites, because FTP works in both directions so you can remove stuff.
Good luck with your site!

That's awesome that you're looking at building your own site. I also use Dreamweaver, though I just built my site from scratch without going through HTML or any kind of coding. However, the more professional you get with it, the better it's gonna look.
As far as hosting and uploading, I know a lot of universities here in the States offer free server space to their students and faculty, which is how I present my site. You may want to see if your school has anything like that. Otherwise, it would probably be worth it to pay a few euros a month to have a secure and ad-free site.
Hope you get your idea off the ground. With your creativity, I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult for you to accomplish. Best of luck, João! =)

You could check with your ISP (internet service Provider) most often give there users some free web space on there servers. I know in Australia most ofter between 5 - 20mb of space some more. As for uploading your website you could try a FTP (file transfer program), there are many free ones on the internet. I have used one called FILEZILLA.
It is great idea to document your progress on a web site I am working on one at the moment using a program called NetObjects Fussion very simple to use allows you to create a website without knowing to much HTML.
