Well, as I promised last time, Ive not cut the beard at all since the update I made in December except the moustache. Crazily enough, its grown back again. Im not actually frowning in the picture, but whod ever know one way or the other!?!
I thought this was in interesting comparison, me and Mr. Pericles, our ancient Athenian friend (sorry, I am getting carried away with the Greek thing again). If he had on sunglasses, or if I had on a bronze helmet, well, the resemblance would just be uncanny.
There is no visible change in the hair length though on the scalp. I know its grown though, for when I comb it, it nearly is approaching the shoulders again. The humidity was so high last night that when I washed it curled up tighter than usual. Even though the length doesnt show, I know its there.
On to the question Should I trim the beard short (like between .25 to .50 inches; sorry, I dont do metric), or let it keep agrowing and just see what happens? I really cant decide. What I have found though is that thoroughly washing and conditioning the beard keeps it itch-free and soft, and combing it well too alleviates tangles. In a way, I like the longer beard, but Im just not sure how it looks. It is so very black. With me, its different in terms of beards. Were someone to tell me I need to cut my hair because it didnt look good, I think you all know what the answer would be not No, but HELL, NO!!! I have a suspicion that a better look might be a trimmed beard. But, why? I am not sure. I see other longer beards and am an admirador of them What say you fellows?
I see a resembalance here :)
I would say to grow it longer.. JMO.
One thing I noticed is that all of your pics are behind the wheel. You must drive a lot.. :)
Actually, I decided to keep taking the pictures in the same "place" to make better comparisons every few months, and I drive a good bit too. Thanks, Bragi
how long has it been since you were clean-shaven? :))
I think it was in 2001 for my sister's wedding.
I think you look better with a trimmed beard,
however if you can get that whole 'American Civil War General- jutting and perfectly manicured and straight-across-the-bottom' beard going in the future, then I'd say maybe consider growing it more as an experiment.
P.S. I'm curious as to what you look liked clean-shaven.
Peace.
Thanks for the honest opinion.
Yes, like R.E. Lee or Stonewall Jackson, but NOT Grant or Sherman!!! HAHAHA! I might try that look.
I look like I'm about 13 when I have a bare face. Jestingly, also I say to you, clean-shaven is a misnomer implying that beards are dirty. HAHA!
Pax vobiscum etiam.
It's just personal preference, but I think a trimmed beard looks much better no matter the length of hair. And with long hair, it maintains a neat and orderly look.
One does seem to balance the other; perhaps a 'neat' beard counterbalances unruly (at times) hair.
I'd say grow it out for a bit longer, and if you like it more and more as it gets longer, then keep it, but if you like it less and less as it gets longer, cut it.
Awesome comparison photo btw!

I like the way it feels longer, but am not as excited about the look exactly.
Long time, no see from you as well. Hope all is going well with you!

Hey brother - I say keep it growing. For many years in my "youth" I had long beards. I never could get into the trimmed look (not that there's anything wrong with that). As an older man with so much grey I have had far fewer beards. Guess I'm trying to ward off the ole' man river image (not that there's anything wrong with THAT). Anyhow, I do prefer the look and feel of a full, long beard and think I'll have one again someday perhaps sooner than later. I think yours is looking really good and the hair too. Go For It! Hi Bragi, before I even read your post, I looked at the pictures and thought your beard looked really great and even better than your previous pictures.
So there is your answer from me!!
