Hi (especially to Jacob) and anyone interested,
Just got out of the shower after trying the VO5 hot oil, moisturing. The oil didn't seem that gross after all, after heating in a dish of hot water, it was actually fairly thin. I then shampooed and conditioned. I did go back to the Aussie conditioner, though, I had been using the Pantene Pro V and felt it gave my hair a "plastic" feel and also may have been part of my dry hair problem. (I know, being a scientist, I shouldn't change more than one thing at a time but I felt I had to get off the Pantene)
It will be VERY interesting what the hair is like when it dries. Also, Jacob, have you tried it yet?
David
So if you see a real difference how will you know what to attribute it to? Is it one, the other, or a combination of both?
You are right. One variable at a time.
Do you find the Aussie product that much better than Pantene? Pantene has done great for me.
George
Hi George,
I have been using Aussie Moist shampoo consistently, I don't think the shampoo is the real problem. It's the conditioner I am having trouble nailing down. I had been using Aussie Moist conditioner, but someone's update a two month's back persuaded me to try Pantene Pro V (I know there are other Pantenes out there, maybe you are using a different one). At first, I thought it was OK, but lately I think it has caused my hair to be dry. I briefly also tried Fructis Long and Strong but found a similar effect to Pantene, hair felt "plasticky" afterwards and seemed dry, possibly too much "cones", perhaps. I have also contemplated some of the products Jason mentioned in a post he made to me, as well as Nexxus products Jeffrey mentioned. (I have not been able to find Nexxus so far, it may only be available in a Salon)

He David
I am glad the hot oil treatment provided satisfying results for you. On the aussie topic , I dislike their products. They dont seem to work for MY hair type. Nonetheless , I must admit that AUSSIE is highly recommended and seems great according to reviews/comments from consumers. Well , Take care.
Chris
no,I haven't tried it yet,my local Wal-mart didn't have any (grrrr!!).well,I'm curious to see how your hair turns out :)
Hi Jacob,
The hair is almost dry now, seems quite smooth, has more shine, may even be a tad straighter, haven't given it a combing yet until it's thoroughly dry, but it does look promising! Unfortunately, even if it does look good, I still have to deal with the inevitable destruction the bed will cause tonight. (Bedhead be gone!)
David
Hi David, Let us know if you get more frizzies from this oil than usual, It seems to have given me more, but has made my hair soft and shiny, I just can't hack these frizzies.
I used it for the second time today.
It seems like the results vary differently for many.
Later,
Chris
Hi Chris,
I don't notice frizzies this AM, the next morning. My hair does seem relatively soft and shinier today, but not a lot different than one of my better hair days, also the weather is drier which makes my hair behave better anyway. I certainly don't think it has done anything bad to my hair.
Thanks for the reviews, there are a lot of conflicting opinions out there!
David
Hello, David!
I've actually gone out and tried it, too, with all the discussion here on the topic. For about 4 dollars I get three tubes of the stuff - that's cheaper than buying three cokes or one beer at a restaurant! I think I like it: my hair is softer and more manageable today (used it in the shower today).
And, the catccher: t is quick to use! (None of that 15 minutes in a hot towel stuff - just sit it in a cup of hot water while trimming the beard, put in on the hair once in the shower with wet hair, leave it in while I attend to washing other areas, rinse it, shampoo, condition and done!). It adds perhaps five minutes to a morning routine and the hair is great! I think I will use this on a weekly basis or so for a while. (The morning after feeling, the day before, that my hair is just going crazy and that I can't do anything to make it look good would be an effective time to use it.)
Later,
Shawn. (Mr.Crow)
