On my birthday (January 6th), I went with my daughter to the Elephant Room to see The Brew, a Latin band. They play a lot of Cuban music, and the singer, in fact, is Cuban. I'm not sure if any of the other band members are or not.
After enjoying the band and the dancers for a while, I noticed a coworker of mine, Herb, come in with a lady friend of his. We waived at each other, and he found a table that amazingly still had two empty chairs.
A couple songs later, they came over, and she introduced Terri to me and vice versa, and I introduced my daughter. Coincidentally, my daughter went to the same acting school as Herb's daughter.
Anyway, a couple more songs later, Terri came over and asked me to dance. I said that I don't dance, and she grabbed my hand, not taking no for an answer.
Unbeknownst to me (until later, of course), Herb took some pictures of us on his camera phone. Here they are.
Yeah, I know they're not the best pictures, but what do you expect from a camera phone being held by someone laughing his head off! After he emailed me the pictures, I told him that had I known we were on candid camera, I'd have rotated us around to put our best face forward.
Looks like you had fun, in spite of your non-dancing ;)
I've got a job managing a booth on the renaissance festival circuit, and I'll be in Waxahachie from April-May, so I may come down to Austin during that time. I'd love to meet you if you want to meetup.

I have my season ticket to Scarby ordered.Maybe I'll see you out there.I'll also be in Austin the last week of April.

Alright! I'm managing the "House of Play" tent, where you'll find the people playing with balls a la "Labyrinth" style (just cooler)
Well, it seems to me that it's high time we have another meeting of the longhairs. Scarborough Faire is an obvious place for it. I think all we need is to set a date. Can I volunteer That "Ball" Guy to be in charge of setting a date/time/place, etc. since he will be there regularly?
Sounds good to me.I've been going to Scarby for 20 years.I'll most likely be in period dress although it can be fun to do it in modern dress.I've seen people doing the thing with balls that that ball guy does on his web site,I know I've seen someone with dreads doing that.Thing is with Scarby is with what everyone else is doing out there he wouldn't stand out all that much.I haven't figured out what Klingons and Amazon warrior women have to do with the Renaissance.

oi! next time you dance, don't fold yer arms (were you nervous?)
lookin good, had a good time yes???? :)
I have no idea what you mean by folding my arms. I was not a bit nervous. I don't recall the song that was being played at the time, but it was a fairly energetic one. One of the things we did when dancing was to pull each other toward each other, then apart. Perhaps that's what you're seeing? If not, please explain.
Hey victor , My mother happens to be cuban. I am glad you enjoy cuban music. What kind of music was it. Salsa , Merengue , Latin Jazz , Rumba? Im curious even though i dont really enjoy it much. I prefer flamenco.
I'd have to say probably all of the above, or at least most of the above. Rather than try to describe it, I'll post a link to the band's website. You can sample their music there.
They didn't play just Cuban music. They also played other Latin American music, but Cuban was the majority, I would say.
