A hair sometimes gets caught in one of the hinges of my glasses and gets broken off when I go to push my hair out of my face. This has been happening for a while now. Sometimes I feel the hair caught before it gets snapped off, and I'm able to open the hinge to let it out. But usually, I'm not quick enough. I've been wanting to get contacts, but I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.
Any ideas to avoid further glasses hinge hair snapping?
sorry i have no long term solutions, but if you like the styles, you could wear your hair in a ponytail or tuck it behind your ears. sorry i couldn't help more

I was having this problem with glasses when my bangs were down to my cheekbones. however, now they are down to my lower lip, and I don't have the problem anymore. (sorry, can't offer any solutions, other than getting contacts or maybe choosing glasses with different frames)
How long are your bangs right now?
My hair is all one length, about two inches past shoulder length.
I have the same problem, and my hair is much, much lomger than either of you. I only wear glasses for fine print, so probably I find it more awkward than someone who wears them all the time and is used to the problem. I suspect that the answer may be to ger better quality glasses.
When I was first growing my hair it happened all the time, now it just happens once a month, though I am getting contacts soon.
I would go for the contacts. They are wonderful unless for some reason they don't work-out for you.
Simple, get an undercut and keep your hair in a ponytail. he he
Before you blast me I'm well aware that this is not a very
popular solution. :)
The last time I went glsses shopping with my wife, they showed us a frame that had no hinges. It was made of a "memory" metal, and the thin temples connected directly to the lens frame. It just stretched out when you put it on, and returned to the folded position when you removed it. No hinges to catch hair! Very cool, but pretty pricey.
I have frames that are spring loaded at the hinge. These are the kind that if you get wacked on the side of the head they will bend out, then snap back into position. The only time I have to worry is when I remove my glasses, otherwise my hair seems to stay out of harms way. I have more trouble when I have my headphones on and go to remove them. Ouch!
Good luck,
Bruce
