Hey Folks - I was standing in the hallway adjacent to our principal's office speaking with her, the asst. principal and a colleague when my asst. principal turned to me and said, "your hair looks really good pulled back." I usually wear it down at work but on several occasions lately I've tied it back. I am new at the school this year. Not knowing the staff very well has made me more comfortable growing out my hair because there are no preconceptions or prior references about me. I've felt pretty comfortable wearing it in a ponytail and have had zero negative feedback and only a few references to it at all. Like after a windy bus duty last week where my hair was all over the place I came in and before going to my room ducked into the restroom and put it in a ponytail. On the way back down the hall a colleague who had been outside with me said, "wow, that was fast...you already put your hair up." I'm glad I've established the practice of wearing it long but now also feel it looks good enough to tie up when the urge strikes. That's a nice place to be, length and confidence wise, and to have a supervisor's "support/approval" (though not necessary)is icing on the cake. RNS - Bruce'ster
Congratulations, Bruce! Postive feedback and support, especially from the boss, is a WONDERFUL thing, it makes the hair growing experience so much more fun. It's great you're tailing so much "second nature". I remember your post displaying your first tail, REALLY looking forward to your next update, your hair must be growing FAST!
Keep it growing,
David
That is GREAT, Bruce!
I am very happy to hear that your administration has actaully commented positively on the look of your hair. Comments from a fellow teacher would be nice, but the administration- the ones whom you need to ask for budget, scheduling favours, references for when you want to try a different assignment- well that is just great!
I am curious...How do the students react (if at all) to the hair?
Keep it growing! It looks great!

Wonderful! What do you teach? Is it hard?
Hey Wolf - I teach 5th grade science. Teaching is hard for sure; long hours, lots of discipline problems, lots of paparwork, you have to deal with irrate parents at times, etc. BUT any job has its' drawbacks. If you like kids, and I do, then it's an awesome job. Your classroom is your home away from home so you really put yourSELF into it. I play several instruments and share that with them. I have my S.D. Chargers Penant on the wall....get the picture. One thing is for certain, there's never a dull moment and lots of fun. It beats working with (most)adults anyday!!! Bruce'ster
