i was talking to this guy who says he uses temperary hair dye that washes out when you wash it. i've never heard of anything like this before...was he like making this up?? i mean i know alot of people will just make stuff up just to have someone to talk to and it sounds like thats what he was doing because i've never heard of this in my LIFE. But i figure i would post here just to ask.
if anyone knows of anything like this please post details. Where can i buy it. Does it damage your hair like regular hair dye?
I've tried such stuff. In 2004, I bought a tube to dye my hair blonde for a convention I was dressing up for. I put it on that morning, wore it all day and evening, and washed it out in the shower later that night. Had no problems with my hair, and even used it twice more on other occasions.
I've got half a tube left, but should probably by another one before I ever use it again. The brand is called "Ice Hair," and the product is called "Spiker Colorz - Colored Styling Glue." I bought it at a salon downtown, and they had a variety of different colors. There's a website address: www.icehair.com
I didn't find the exact product I have on icehair.com, but I did find them at the link below.

One of the oldest and widely used natural and temporary hair dyes is Henna. It's entirely plant derived and is non-destructive to the hair, it takes about a month of washing to come out. I've been considering black organic henna myself. Henna coats the surface of the follicles. There *are* mixtures that have bad chemicals in them though...Google for *organic* henna.
However they dont color black hair as far as I know because those dyes are transparant... I wonder how can you turn black hair colored (as in lighter colored) without the highly destructive bleach?
This is true, I forgot to mention that Henna is for lighter-darker change only...you can not lighten with henna. I don't think you can lighten non-destructively.
Like Michael24 says, you can get a variety of temporary or "semi permanent" dyes. I used one made by Loreal (I think) a couple of years ago, to turn my hair into a kind of deep wine red. It washed out in about 2 weeks. Judging by the packaging I'd say it was aimed at kids who'd want a temporary change.
