I currently have past the shoulders hair...all mostly the same length when worn down...and that the problem. Right now it is annoying. It does not stay out of my face and I do not feel I look good with it. I always wear it in a ponytail. A few years ago I had a mullet and loved it. I also was happy with my appearance with a mullet and always wore it loose in back. Well after a couple of years, and several trims the mullet is gone and I have grown out the top and side to match the back...problem is I really liked the mullet better. Then yesterday I saw a guy with one that looked really good and it got me thinking about doing the same.
Am I crazy? I know the mullet is made fun of, even more so with the recent "Joe Dirt" film. I do not know why it would be any different that some of those unusual buzzcuts. (High and tights, recon...etc...hair does not naturally grow like that, yet they are accepted and not ridiculed.)
The guy that trims my hair (3 times a year) does not want me to lose the length on the top and sides...says it took so long to grow and would be a shame to lose it. I agree with him, but I still like the looks of a mullet.
Any advice? Does things get better when hair reaches mid-back or longer?
it's your hair- do what you want. personally, i prefer my hair just grown out... but that's me. the only way to find out if longer hair is better is to just grow it out. give it a year, and if you don't like it then- get the mullet.
I personally like long hair all the way around rather than the mullet. But if you are sure you're happier with the mullet, then get it cut. What type of hair do you have? Do you have a picture? Do what makes you happy, not what other people think or how long it took to grow... does it matter how long it took if it doesn't look good on you anyways?

Furr: I said the "perp" was hideous because -- well, he *was*, IMHO. Bad skin, bad teeth, a really bad mullet, and after resisting arrest, bleeding rather nastily. I figured people could do without seeing any of that.
I would advise against a mullet....when I went to hair care professionals they never were able to grasp what I wanted to do
even when I gave them very specific directions. I have reached the
point where I hate hair care professionals because they do what they
want to do....not what you tell them you want. I never was able to find one who could handle a mullet.
Hey Mark, I suggest that you wait awhile before you cut your hair. It took you a long time to get it all one length, and with one swipe if those scissors it's gone. Mine is almost one length, and it's took some time to get it there. I bet your hair looks GREAT!
Thanks, PC
You should save it and not get a mullet cut, it simply looks bad.
I am going the opposite way, I currently have a mullet, the back is curly and past my shoulders. I have decided to let it all grow out to one length and I can't wait.
Just kidding. I actually really like the look and feel of shaved heads on men, but obviously this is not what you are considering. I also think men with great looking shoulder length hair look good. If you truly like the mullet then get it cut that way. I don't care for mullets on most men, but I will admit that some look ok. I must also admit though that every time I see a man with a mullet, I say to myself or anyone who is with me, "That guy thinks he is still in the 80s!" It's your hair. Do what you want with it!
