I ran across this passage the other day from "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" which describes the Green Knight's appearance when he enters Arthur's castle. I won't give away the plot, but it's a great story. Thought some might enjoy this...
"Great was this goodly man in guise all of green,
And the hair of his head to his horse suited;
Fair flowing tresses enfold his shoulders;
A beard as big as a bush on his breast hangs,
That with his heavy hair, that from his head falls,
Was evened all about above both of his elbows,
That half of his arms thereunder were hid in the fashion
Of a kings cap-á-dos, that covers his throat."
sounds like a medieval badass:P

I remember covering this story in high school English class. I think it was my junior year. It's hard to remember, because I had the same English teacher all 4 years of high school. It was a very small school :)
it looks like a minoan painting :))
Here are some Minoan boxers from Knossos(?) perhaps.
lol!!!nice pic...
One of my favorites from British Literature in collage. I had a single room, so I actually read a good portion of it outloud to really enjoy it. I'd never noticed the reference to long hair before though...perhaps I'll have to dig it out for another read.
Thanks for sharing.
