Well I wish I'd known about this site years ago as it would have been good to talk to other hairy guys about well hair I guess. A little about my hair history, I have always preferred having long hair (I guess it could be because I have two sisters)but never really went ahead til I was 17. I'm 27 now and my hair is about mid back but has been trimmed every three months or so throughout for split ends and such, it is in good condition (I think so anyway). But alas it is time for a change so it will be cut short(ish) in a couple of months.
Hi there,
Welcome to board and thanks for taking the time to post a picture . I was just wondering what band t-shirt that was?
Your hair looks in great condition and a great colour as well and nice to see. It's a great shame if you have to cut it as it's in such good condition. But as we say here leave your decision for a couple before you cut it. There have been people cut it for other people or jobs. Let's us know of you decision and hear from you soon.

Welcome to the community.
Your hair looks excellent! If it were my hair , The thought of cutting it wouldnt even cross my mind. I would leave it as it is or perhaps grow it longer. Just my opinion though!! Just do whatever makes you happy. Wether it is cutting it , Getting corn rows , Growing dreads , shaving your head , We are all here to support you.
All The Best

Hi Paulie and welcome to the Hyperboard. Glad you found us. Your long hair looks great and DOES look to be in good condition.
You have mentioned cutting it "shortish" in a couple of months and of course the main thing is that you are happy just being yourself which is the most important of all. But.......you have also mentioned that you have always preferred long hair. I'll just throw an observation out to you for what it worth as I have been with this board for over 4 years and have seen plenty.
Long hair is "timeless" and is always in style. WE men are suppose to (governed by the laws of Nature) to have long hair. It is changable very easily into different looks unlike shorter hair. If anything like the majority I have seen in the past and including myself, when the hair is cut short or much shorter there is usually an instant regret.............and the whole process of getting back to where you were takes years.
Just some food for thought. Nothing more, nothing less.
With all good wishes.
Justin
Hello, and welcome.
Your hair looks superb, after growing it for so long what would be your resons for cutting?
Hi and Welcome!
You have fantastic hair! I really hope you think long and hard before cutting, you really don't want to do anything you may regret later.
All the best,
David
Hi Paulie,
you got awesome hair, and you have always liked it - who in the whole world pushes the idea on you that it was "time for a change"? You don't seem to be happy with that idea, you write "alas, it's time for a change". Is it a girlfriend who is trying to push you into cutting off your hair?? Such a girlfriend would be your undoing in other ways as well.
Board members from Texas know the old and very true saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", and if someone "fixes" you that way, he's not fixing, but hurting you.
But maybe it's society, or an old "feeling" that manipulators tried to trick you into a long time ago - like a subliminal (or not-so-subliminal) suggestion that is taking effect many years later, inducing "delayed compliance" on your part. One such suggestion is that we "need to get rid of such childish things like growing our hair long when we really grow up". This isn't even BS, but worse, it's true Elephant S***!
In reality, being a grown-up means being really ourselves and throwing out all kind of long-term manipulations!
Unless you are really start hating your hair, by all means keep it! Unfortunately, it is normal for long-haired men in early adulthood to suddenly start thinking "alas, I'm kind-of required to cut off my hair - no matter how much I like it." Resist that BS!!! No-one has the right to require you to do something you would despise deep down in your heart!
Several of us have gone through this experience, and it has been traumatic for most, and many of us later have come back to their senses and started re-growing their hair.
If you don't mind, just post a few remarks on how long hair feels good for you, and why you thought you would have to cut it "shortish" in two months. Or is it a job??? There ARE other jobs in your field (even in law and medicine) where long hair is NO problem.
You look great with your hair - no need to change! (unless I am wrong and it is really not a residual lnog-term manipulation but a genuine wish for a different apperaance on your part)
By all means, give yourself AT LEAST THREE more months before you really make any decision. What else is due to happen in two months anyway?
Wishing you all the best - keep it growing and flowing, if you ask me.

Hi guys thanks for your responses. The main reason I am cutting my hair is I am at a place in life where it is getting in my way all the time and I have to tie it back which I hate doing. I am a fairly active guy and apart from my job which is very labour intensive, dry and dusty I do martial arts which can get frustrating when you have to keep tying hair back and I surf which I know you can do with long hair but it kept getting in the way on my last trip. I decided then that it was time to cut it to a manageable length that will keep it out of my eyes but still be fairly long and as I have such blonde hair I think the surfer style will look good. As to the time limit I have enforced it is because I will be raising some money for Great Ormond Street kids hospital in London so I will need time for that.
it's your hair and your decision, but you gotta understand that once you cut your hair,it's gone..and it ain't comin back for years!!!like Hans said, give it 3 months before you decide...in the meantime,I think you should look into different hairstyles, like braids.braids are much more stable than ponytails, they're less likely to get in the way.Just look at Lara Croft, for instance.it's no coicidence that she has a braids.it's impossible for her to have loose or ponytailed hair witha ll that tomb raiding she does.well, good luck..and I hope you make the right decision..
Hey Paulie P, why not use 4 or 5 hair ties along the length of your hair. This is MUCH easier than braiding, and it will give you the best protection from tangling and damage.
"I will be raising some money for Great Ormond Street kids hospital in London so I will need time for that"
A sponsor thing then?? At least its for a good cause but I always feel when guys do this I'd rather give them the money to keep their hair.
btw yours is lovely, like a Celt/Viking (I have a thing for that look lol) what a pity imo
