HI!
My father is 42 now and he has almost no hair.Only a bit at the sides. And it was the same with his dad, only on the sides.
Almost all the men on my mother's side have thick hair, exept for my uncle who had long hair before. Now his hair is getting thinner.
and i wonder: is there a big chance that i will be bald in a couple of years?? =((I'm 15years now)
Hope you understood, my English is not the best
a.
Hi Aleksander,
The odds of developing MPB comes from both sides of your family, but I have heard it said that the mother's side has more of an influence than the father's side. This is because the "bad" gene resides on the "X" chromosome, which comes from the mother's side. I would say that if your mother's side all have good hair, the odds are definitely better that you will retain yours, although there is no 100% guarantee. The father's side does have some influence, but genetics is a complicated subject and a lot more research is necessary
The best thing is not to worry about it at this time, just enjoy your hair as it is now. Hope this helps.
All the best,
David
Uusually baldness is passed down from father to son, sorry to say.
Might not work out that way though.
Hi,
as David N indicated, to a major part, male pattern baldness is due to one or several genes on the X chromosome, and men get their X chromosome from their mothers. It is the gene that codes for the androgen sensitivity of scalp hair shafts. Therefore, if the men in your mother's family have good hair growth, then you are probably safe. However, it is not a 100% guarantee.
Greetings and happy growth,
Hans-Uwe
You never know. I have known brothers with one having a full head of hair, the other balding. Father with hair, son bald and vice-versa.
At any rate, you can still keep it long either way.
Devin Townsend above and CJ Grimmark of Narnia are good examples of that.
Long hair in no way causes balding though!!!
If your father is slick-bald on top at 42, you should know what will happen in your own case by the time you reach 23-25 however.
Your English is not bad at all; it's better than my Norwegian (which is not at all!!!).

DEVIN RULES!
My father is bald too but my mom's father was not, even at the age of 60 something... My brother is 25 and is showing little/no signs of a receding hairline so I'd say you have nothing to worry about, at least for a few decades;)

I just wanted to point out that Devin Townsend is pure awesomeness..
I just have to say... I LOVE DEVIN TOWNSEND :D
In my family, I'm 43, and have a full head of hair, but my brother (42) uses a (bad) comb-over. (Strangely, I have almost no chest hair, and he looks like a gorilla!) My paternal grandfather was mostly bald from the age of 35. My maternal Grandad had full, wavy, silver hair at his death at age 89.
It's a crap-shoot! Good luck! =D
