As my photo shows my hair's finally starting to come along a bit in terms of length but it's suddenly occuring to me I don't know what I want to do with it, just that I wanted it long.
I guess it was just part of growing up in the 80s being big fans of metal music and wrestling it was natural I'd gravitate towards it. I don't want to cut it off but I'm just not sure how to wear it, the middle parting tucked behind my ears was just for convenience initally but now it's sort of stuck and I'm growing tired of it.
Anyone have any suggestions on what i could try with it?
Hi Jonny,
You have a VERY nice head of hair going on there, looks nice and straight so it's easy to grow, the first priority is obviously to keep it growing, don't even THINK about cutting it. There are MANY ways to wear long hair, you can wear it down, in a ponytail (high or low ponytail), or, with a bit more length, you could think about braiding. Check out Jason's website for some really awesome long hair styles including braids. Just remember, DON'T cut it!
All the best,
David
Perhaps it might be helpful just to take a look at some of our own members in the Membership Directory? Not everyone there has achieved real long hair..........and besides, some don't want hair tremendously long anyway.
Being in the early stages Awkward Stage can be quite trying. Perhaps you can find or see a goal of the type style you would like to achieve as best as possible for yourself. Access to rock groups of the 80's or whenever just might suddenly give you the idea you are looking for.
Good luck in finding something you like.
Hi Jonny,
I had a similar problem to you in the sense that I knew I wanted long hair but sure HOW I wanted my long hair. Being a fan of 80's thrash myself I took a lot of influence from that and the 70's prog scenes - but I never managed to copy someones hair style, I just stuck with how my hair fell, it works for me. I suggest you let your hair grow as much as possible. Like David says, you have great hair and if you let it get longer it will only get better. Eventually everyones hair turns into something unique - the reason I like this board so much is because everyones hair is different. Justins advice for what to do right now is definatley worth listening to as there are many guys on this board with a great variety of shorter hair styles.
Good luck with the future growth!
Neil
Hi Jonny,
you can try a half-tail, or you can wear it open, or you might just be able to braid it - all very cool options!
Your hair does look fantastic in most any way you wear it - and it has a great color! By the way, your options can only increase as you gain further length - looking forward to your 2008/2009 updates!
All the best, and, happy growth!

personally i just part it down the middle and call it good.. I'm not a fan of tying it back in any way whatsoever, and will only do it if I absolutely HAVE to. I think long hair looks best when it's loose. cant go wrong with that IMO. good luck
