I want to thank all you for your comments, it means a lot to me. As for cutting my hair, you are all right, I will hang in there. Now I have a question, how do I treat dry hair. I use Redken all soft Shampoo and Cond and I also use Pantene Ice. I NEVER blow dry only air dry. I wash my hair every other day plus cond it. Anther question, why are people so against long hair? I just took this pic.
Thanks again for all your support and kindness.
Eric.
Hey Eric =)
Glad you changed your mind =)
About dry hair, my hair is naturally dry like, and I have been managing to change that. One of the first things I decided to do was quit pantene. I don't know for how long you've been using but I used it for a year or so and I started noticing my hair was geting dryer, as well as my sister's. I've been using Elvive now, and I'm liking it a lot =)
ALso, you can use some oil on your ends =) Tough it may be a little early I dunno... leave in conditioner could do the job, but when I used it it made my hair look really heavy and greasy. My best suggestion would be oil honestly, it made a great diference for me =)
Good luck! You'll make it ;)
That IS great news, Eric. I WILL be looking forward to your 2 year update 15 months from now, I KNOW you will hang in there! Keep it growing.

If your current shampoo/conditioner don't have moisturizer, you should be able to find a brand that does.
You may want to reconsider your regiment as your hair gets longer. Frequent washing of long hair tends to strip the hair of its natural oils before they have a chance to lubricate the entire follicle, which in turn leaves the rest of the shaft dry. I tend to wash mine once every 2 or 3 weeks.
Any number of reasons. Just ask someone who doesn't like it.
Hey good to hear you're growing it! It'll look awesome. As for dry hair, look for moisturizer as Nyghtfall mentioned below. Also, try to avoid shampoos and conditioners with alcohol in them, as it dries your hair out. Hope this helps, keep it growin!

It is great to hear that you decided not to cut it!
You mentioned that your hair is dry and that you use redken and pantene. There are various things that you can do to improve the condition of your hair. Make a washing routine. Try to shampoo every 2 or 3 days and see how it works out. Make sure to condition on your non-shampoo days or wash it with water only. Try switching shampoo/conditioner brands. Look for a shampoo that is mild or maybe a shampoo intended for dry hair. Try applying oils on the ends of your hair. Do not brush it when it is wet. Always use a wide tooth comb. Try all these things and variate to see what works best. Well , Good luck and i hope this helps you out in some way.

Try L'Oreal Melting Gel. Use it as a hair dressing. Work it into your damp hair.
It will keep your hair soft and moisturized throughout the day.
For extra shine and to control the frizzies, try L'Oreal Liquid SPRAY Gel.
Spray it on your hair and then smooth your hair down with a dry face cloth or towel.
The frizzies will disappear, and your hair will look shiny and moist.
To answer your other question: People do not like long hair for a number of reasons: the primary one being that it is 'different and not the 'norm.'
Parents, especially, can be dead set against long hair on a son because they
want him to 'fit in' and be successful, etc.
They may feel that it will hurt his chances for a successful career, finding a mate, etc.
Being angry with one's parents is not the answer. Try to understand things from their point of
view and then--if the opportunity presents itself--try to discuss the matter with them (if they are even willing to listen).
don't let a few bad hair days and a few ignorant people get to you. We've all been there..and yet still we are continuing our journey.Aboutt the dry hair...have you tried shampooing less often? If you have, then try experimenting with different shampoos to see which one dries your hair the least!!good luck :))
Eric,
Glad you decided to keep your hair. It's a beautiful color and texture, and I think it looks just stunning with your icy blue eyes.
I deal with dryness by using oil on my hair as needed (usually on shampoo days).

If you're the Eric that Joao refered to, I cannot conceive of why you were considering cutting your hair. Take a good comparative look at the new picture and your avatar; your appearance is vastly more composed and relaxed with the new look versus the old.
It's possile you're washing it too much and stripping out the natural oils that naturally condition our hair. Typically, I only wash mine every few weeks, and the main criterion on when I wash it is if it starts getting greasy or stringy.
There are as many reasons as there are people who don't like long hair. There's also a (un)healthy dose of group-think involved. You'll not be able to "turn" these folks, so the best you can do is just "deal with them" on a case-by-case basis; the slightly smarter ones will accept you for who you are, and the ones that cannot aren't worth your time or energy.
Pantene is crap. It is very harsh and drying. Most Redken stuff does work well. You may also want to try some leave-in conditioner or certain types of oil. If you have course, thick hair the oils are good. If you have fine hair, oil can be too much.
There are as many answers as there are people against it. But, usually, vehement opposition to anything is ultimately a result of fear of the unknown. Fear is the little mind-killer.
Heh. You should've seen mine at that length, it was a disaster! You will definitely fare well in your quest to grow it out.
