Hi there,
Well I don't often take the lead in much these days, but I think we cannot let something go by un-noticed.
Since reading Ed.G's post the other day I didn't realise it had been 10 years since this board. I say well done to Victor for starting this site up and it's nice to see that it's been able to longhair in the forefront and put it in a positive light. We know in certain places longhair is frowned upon or gets alot of negative reaction, but we can see from the people that post in this board are a great inspiration to go against the stereotypes.
After let's forget all the O/T threads, and negative comments and after all were are here to share tips, help, comment and be positive about people that are growing their hair out and encouraging to keep it long.
So from the "public side" let's celebrate this and I hope this board is still around in another 10 years...well done..:-)
Cheers,
John.
PS...I might be shock white by them!
And cheers from Shawn, too!
Thanks for the great forum!
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
Congrats Victor for a wonderful site for us long haired men!!
This is yours truly, 10 years ago, taken in October 1996 using a webcam on a Silicone Grafics Workstation.
Hello Everyone,
A big "Thanks" to all who kept this board alive for the past ten years, and it should be worth a celebration. A get together would be a fine idea, but is not feasable due to the distances involved. I would love to have a get-together at a local pub... or something :)
In the beginnings of this site, I just found my new job as a computer technician at Universite of Quebec, and ended my 9 year stint as a bike messenger. The "corporate world" and I do not get along, and I am alergic to dress and grooming codes. In my current job, I come every day in jeans, and the people are great.
It was in 1997, that I discovered the board, and it made me feel that there are others who share some beliefs in what looks good on guys.
This board did allow me to make new friends, and met one lurker at a mall in Montreal, who recoginized me on this board.
The board is so well made, that I can access it with my Palm TX in wi-fi cafés... (Though I cannot post, because my TX doesn't handle Javascript well).
All I can say, is keep it growing and do not bend to any corporate pressure.
Georges in Montreal.
I remember meeting you at about that time. Hard to believe it's been ten years. Wow, all those elevators!
JavaScript is used very sparingly on the site and no page depends on it to work. That is intentional. The posting page does not use JavaScript at all. Write me if you have any questions. We take "the site working well for everyone" very seriously.

Wow, ten years and still going strong! Thats really impressive! I´m glad this site exist, otherwise I´d fumble around in the dark when it comes to my hair business. And that would probably result in me cuting my hair.
Thanks all for sharing your knowledge and showing suport! :)
We owe a lot to Victor for founding this board. And the crew for maintaining it. The MLHH has become an institution on the Internet. It's incredibly popular according to Google: a search for "long hair" shows Victor's site in the #2 and #3 positions, and the MLHH at #17 (out of 60 million web pages!)
I probably first found this site in the late 1990s. Here's what I looked like in 1997.

Hi Ed, thank you for the picture, how you looked like in 1997. But - how do you look like now?
Uwe
I don't think I've ever seen you post your photo. Don't be a lurker - join the board. And let it grow! You'll get plenty of encouragement from the members here.
Ed
Hi Ed, thank you for the advice. I'll think about that (joining the board).
Uwe
Hi everybody,
yes, let's celebrate. Encouraging other men to grow their hair is a great thing - calling it even "virtuous" is not much of an exaggeration - after all, we are helping guys to be themselves and to withstand pressures that hinder their self-expression and, in at least one way, their personal development.
And, it just feels good to see guys coming out from under the tight blankets of the procrustes bed which society holds for many of us. Growing our hair is nothing less than an important aspect of being ourselves!
Of course, meeting kindred spirits, is the other great thing.
A BIG tribute and a BIG salute to Victor, who started it off!
Hans-Uwe
Cheers to the 10th anniversary of this site as well! I only wish I had discovered it 10 years ago rather than 4 months ago.
David
Welcome to the Men's Long Hair Hyperboard. This board is dedicated to messages relating to long hair on men. Any message is acceptable as long as it relates to this subject. To start things off, I have included a picture of myself. It doesn't really show off my hair (the picture was meant to be an illustration of my car). I hope to have better pictures shortly. In the mean time, post your messages here, and spread the word of this hyperboard's existence.
Please include pictures in the image links if you can. If you would like to have them considered for inclusion in the companion Men's Long Hair Site, please e-mail them to me. I will respond to you quickly.
This is a brand new site. Its success depends upon your participation. Please help to make it an enjoyable experience for all interested in long hair issues for men.

I should have mentioned that the date of the first post was January 22, 1997.
This is a great site Victor, thank you for starting it.
I found it about 7 months ago and have learned a lot from everyone here. Also thanks to everyone for sharing your experiences and knowledge.
Chris
I'd drink to this if I hadn't quit it. :D Cheers anyway :D
who have contributed to this success!! It's funny that Victor's site mentioned earlier in AOL's "kinda weird post" is exactly what drew me to the hyperboard in the first place. Thanks for making this place a comfortable place to hang out.
Keep on growin' and keep on postin'
Bruce
