I don't think that the long hair will distract from the beard. But it would have to be a very long beard to distract from the long hair!
Had both....my hair was down to my waist and the beard was who knows how long. I loved having hair down to my waist, but the beard I
preferred short so that it looked neat. Also the longer the beard is
the harder it was to keep clean.
Why are you reposting my comments -- WITHOUT MY PERMISSION -- from one board to another? Can't you think of anything to say on your own? It's bad enough you're reposting one guy's pictures without his permission, but now you're reposting my words too? Ever heard of a litle thing called ASKING PERMISSION?! Not that you'd *GET* it after pulling this kind of crap.
A. Michelson, whoever you are -- just forget I exist. Don't quote me, don't comment on my website, and especially do not repost anything from my website, or that I post on other discussion boards. In other words, GET A LIFE!

Long hair discussion seems to be on topic for this board, besides if I just provide a link then people are too lazy to click on it. Do I have to post everyone's comments because they are too lazy to click on the link to their original postings? I say original stuff on the board, but then people won't know (or care about) the source that I'm talking about!
I wonder where in the FAQ does it say that I can't port messages from one board to another? Does that mean that everyone has to ask permission because they are responding to messages with a quote (begins with a colon)?
Also, I'm not really reposting pictures, but merely linking to them. If I'm transferring pictures to Victor's Upload folder, then I'm reposting them. A lot of people were doing that because you can't link directly to Yahoo GeoCities!
Just a few points to keep in mind here:
Copyright laws in reference to items on the web are inadequate and are currently undergoing scutiny and revision. For example, does including an inlined image that is located on another server constitute a breach of copyright, or is it simply a reference, which is allowed under copyright law?
Furthermore, just because something is not covered in the FAQ does not mean it does not apply. You may not, for example, break the law in your actions of posting here. That goes without saying here because it is said at a level that has precedence. Use your common sense when figuring these things out.
In any case, I prefer to operate by the golden rule, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Applying that in this particular case, if you know that someone does not want you to quote their material, don't do it.
Finally, how would you know whether people follow links or not? You don't have access to the server logs. If they are truly interested in the topic, they will follow the link. That's what the internet is all about.
This has to do with context:
So I can't copy from one board to another? I just did it! (It's MY copyrighted text, so I can do whatever I want;¬)
Do other people operate by the golden rule? And how do you know whether they want their material quoted?
No, we DON'T know whether people are following the links! I believe that only those down at ONR.COM (not even the WebMaster?) might know.
Where did I say that?
If they expressly tell you they don't want it quoted, then you know. I won't comment beyond this, because it doesn't apply in this instance: what I just said is sufficient.
Uh, I think you need to bone up on how everything works before you comment on it. ONR.COM has nothing whatever to do with this site, except that a link to my email address on their site exists multiple times here. However, those links might as well not exist when considering what we're really talking about, which is following links to other websites. It is the server logs on those websites that would have the information on what links were followed. If the links are to other pages on this site, then I have access to them.
In Message #16959, *I* (not you) said: I wonder where in the FAQ does it say that I can't port messages from one board to another?
In other words, within this site.
You can do whatever you like with your own words; the issue is what you're doing with *OTHER* people's content.
You **ASK FIRST**. Why is this concept so incredibly difficult for you to grasp? Madoc wants people to *ASK FIRST* before they re-use the pictures on his web site; I want anyone who wishes to re-use my words to ASK BEFORE doing so.
It's really very simple.

which leads to
Is it illegal to copy between boards WITHIN a website (e.g. the-light.com)? Are messages © the-light.com?
Illegal? Perhaps not.
Impolite and obnoxious? ABSOLUTELY.
You're exactly the sort of person who is contributing to what is called the "breakdown of civility" in our culture; you obviously don't care about anyone but yourself; you do things without a second thought that anyone with any sense of politeness would at least stop and ask "is this an OK thing to do?" first.

There's an interesting copyright notice in http://www.furr.org/ that pertains to "Fair Use." For example, did Furr have to ask permission from the television network to put up the television images?
First of all, Furr, ignore this twit; he's a jerk and he's trying to piss you off.
Second, I think you look great, and I admire anyone who has long hair and a long beard--it's the way I wish I could look, and my ideal for any man.
Proof that there's APATHY & ANARCHY on this board!
Also, I think that Jim Elliott looks great in longer hair!
