I've posted before on other longhair sites/journals but this is the first time I've posted here. You guys are really passionate when it comes to hair, more so than I am about my own.
Anyway I'll do a short pictorial history of my hair. Well the last 2 years of it anyway. About a year and a half ago or so, my hair was at this length, which is the longest it has been, at 38 inches:
Here it is in the light, it picks up blonde highlights which is weird since my hair is really dark:
Fairly recently I cut off about 6-8 inches and it's now this length. These pics are from a few days ago:
I have been thinking about cutting it to around shoulder length, but I doubt I will and probably will just keep it this length. Any suggestions? Anyway, interesting board and I like reading it.

Welcome to the Board
Id keep it at the length you already have but at the end of the day it will be your choice what you do looks in great condition awesome length to Thanks for Sharing some great pictures of your Mane
Axel
Thanks for the compliment and the welcome. Looks like I'm going to keep it at this length, the previous length was too long, but I think how it is now is probably what looks and feels best to me.
you have great hair, don't cut it...and welcome!! :))
Thanks. I like your username. We should have a match or something, lol. As long as it's not a hair vs. hair match that is.
Glad you found this site as its one of the best!!!You've got great hair and I highly recommend trashing the scissors at this point.Hope to see you on here as a regular.Mark
Thanks for the compliment, I hope to become a regular as well. No cutting seems to be the consensus. I'll probably just keep the ends neat and such while keeping the same length.
Yes, great hair. I really like the waviness of the first (older) pic. Thanks for posting. Welcome aboard.
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
Thank you, it's mostly straight now as you can see. It's a lot easier to deal with straight obviously, but I like it when it's wavy as well.
If you cut that nice hair... you will regret it. You can cut hair but it will take a long time to grow it.
Thanks, if I did cut it, it was only going to be a few inches. After all I cut about 8 inches as shown by the pictures. My hair grows really fast anyway but I was never planning to cut it less than shoulder length. I will probably stay at mid-back. Thanks for the input.
That is really super long hair that you have..........welcome and glad that you found us.
As for cutting......PLEASE give all at least 2 weeks thought before you do anything. So many times guys act on an impulse and have their hair cut. Afterwards is regret like you wouldn't believe and then the task of growing it all out again which takes years.
Again, welcome and so glad you like our Hyperboard. :-)
Thanks for the welcome. I was only thinking of cutting a few inches not the whole thing. I will probably keep it the current length because it ended up being too long before like in the first pics, and it's in better condition now I think.
Welcome, you will find a great community of very supportive people here, it's great to see so many new guys showing up lately. You have AWESOME hair, I really like the picture of the back, showing that it is in perfect condition, straight, and shiny. I really hope you do NOT cut it, I would say to keep it growing, the longer, the better. Hope you stay with us.
Keep it growing,
David
Thank you for the welcoe. I already had my hair really long as you can see in the first two pics, so I'm not into really growing it out to that length again, I had over 3 feet of hair after all. I think I will probably keep it at this length, mid-back, for now and not really grow it out any further.
Outstanding hair dude.
I can see you're a metalhead. Thats friggin great! \m/
I love the waviness and length it had in the first picture.
Well , All the best.
Christopher
Thanks for the compliment. I'm not much of an active metalhead anymore, I still listen to what I like and it's all on my ipod but I don't buy any new albums, I think I reach my saturation point with the genre. It had a lot of length then, and it didn't show any signs of stopping in terms of growth, but I don't think it was for me in the end to have hair that long and I'm more comfortable with it at its current length.
in this photo. I personally prefer full length natural hair. (Click on my avatar to see how long mine is.)
While I am a bit saddened to see you cut off about 40% of the length, I do understand why. Having it mid back length makes it easier to deal with. There are fewer hassles with washing and de-tangling. Waist length and longer does require a lot of maintenance.
Hopefully, you are enjoying it at a more convenient length.
Absalom
Thanks for the compliment. That is quite the long hair you got there. It wasn't 40% since it was 38 inches and it's now 30 inches. And at 38 inches it still wasn't waist length because of my height. It is a lot easier to deal with for sure and it's still a lot of hair and it would look like more hair on someone shorter as well.
Hey man you have wicked hair, I love your Motorhead shirt, Motorhead rules.

Thanks, man. Yeah Motorhead is awesome obviously.
I've been coming to this great place for around 4 years now. In that time I have seen a lot of amazing heads of hair. As a result, while it is always wonderful to see new members with fantastic manes, I am not easily impressed (perhaps a better word is 'wowed'?)
YET yours has done just that!
Whether at waist length or at mid-back, whether looking blonde, black or brown you have an AMAZING head of hair, both straight and curly/wavy AND it really suits-IMO-your facial features.
Plus you seem to have a great attitude & THAT is essentially what it takes to be a great part of this community. So, welcome!
Btw, if you have answered this already please forgive me, but how tall are you?
Welcome!
Thanks, that's a hell of a compliment. It always felt right to me to have long hair and I have had it since I was about 14. Sometimes I forget that it is long since I'm just used to it and it's just there or something. And I'm happy to be here and posting.
I haven't answered that yet actually, I'm 6'3".
