I guess we can consider this a mini update. So, I'm not sure why, but I thought I'd do something a little special today and take record of my morning hair care routine. It's rather basic, but if it works, so be it. =)
Just after getting out of the shower. My hair is very wavy at this point and can get tangled quite easily...
I then use a wide-toothed comb to detangle my hair and slick it back...
Now this is where it gets fun. I basically sit around and finger-comb my hair for about 30-45 minutes while on the computer, watching TV, or studying or whatever. This is the result...
After it's mostly dry, I make a part either down the center or slightly off-center with my fingers and continue finger-combing. Often, I'll follow that up with another run-through with the comb or my boar's hair brush...
And by this point my roommate already thinks I'm crazy, so I may shake my head and let my hair go a little crazy as well...
So that's how I spend my mornings (or afternoons on days when I have to get up early for class). Would anyone like to share their tricks of the trade? =)

Sounds like a great routine provided you have the time available after showering. As your hair gets longer, it takes a lot longer to dry. Since I refuse to ever use a blowdryer and hate to leave the house with wet hair, I always shower in the early evening. This allows my hair time to dry before going to bed.
Too funny about your roommate. Has he seen your hair site yet? :)
More and more I'm showering in the afternoons or evenings too, simply because it's the only time I have to workout, which is somewhere in the range of 90-120 minutes per day.
I think he's seen me working on it or uploading photos, but he's never asked about it. I also don't take the photos while he's around, just so he isn't so weirded out. There is a link from my Facebook page to my site and I've had a few friends give nice compliments about it. That's always uplifting. =)
Hi James,
My hair care routine is in the evening as I leave the house for work just after 6.30 AM and would not have the time to properly air dry. (I NEVER use a blow dryer) I shower just before supper, towel dry gently so the hair is still very damp but not dripping, apply a small amount of leave in conditioner, and comb gently so the hair is fairly smooth, then air dry naturally, takes about 2 hours. I then detangle and comb as necessary. My hair is thoroughly dry by the time I go to bed. (I don't like sleeping with any dampness in my hair, causes more tangles) Inevitable bedhead means that more detangling is necessary in the AM before combing and leaving for work.

Hey! Cool routine. I do kinda the same though after I wash my hair I comb it in front of my eyes lol (that's right i love having my hair in front of my eyes and I dont consider it awkard I can still see through it)... I guess it takes us about the same time for it to dry cuz we're both 8 and a half months progress, right? It takes me about an hour or less without even towel drying it.
This is a cool topic and I like how you showed the process with pics.
Anyway my routine is quite basic. I usually am really lazy and tired when I wake up (as seen in the pics) and don't do much of anything.
My hair looks like this most mornings:
And I just finger comb it or use a wood comb since I find they feel a lot better than plastic ones. I rarely have any tangles.
I wash it every few days, and when I air dry it I wear a beanie over my hair so the hair on top gets flattened so it doesn't get frizzy or anything:
I wear beanies a lot just because it's an easy way to keep my hair back without tying it.
Anyway I'm really low maintenance when it comes to my hair, I guess I'm lucky since it's mostly straight and doesn't require too much effort.
Messed up the pics, on the last post.
Anyway here they are:
It is tough to keep my hair nice as I am a swimmer. After my morning swim I will shower, shampoo and then sit in the shower for about 20 minutes with conditioner in it. When my afternoon swim is done I rinse and then use just conditioner again leaving it in for at least 20 minutes, while I stand and talk with other people.
Hi James,
My routine varies from season to season. In winter I shower in the early evening, about 6-7pm. Once I get out of the shower I blot my hair of excess water with a towel. Then gently I seperate any stands of hair that are stuck/tangled together. After, I gently finger comb my hair till its all loose and air dry for as long as I can. To finish of drying (my hair loves holding in the water) I have this brilliant blow dryer I was recommended, its not very powerful and the temperature at its lowest setting feels like a warm summer breeze. Once I've dried the majority of my hair I let the rest do itself. It's long winded, but its worth it for the results : )
